I'm getting my Trump bucks in my 2020 tax refund. I retired early 2020, and made too many Daddy bucks to qualify for Trump bucks per my 2019 return. Don't know if my 2020 return got in early enough this year to get my Biden bucks before my tax refund next year, but I will qualify.

Most of both will go into our upcoming kitchen remodel and over-all refresh of our house we have lived in since new in 1994. After that, I get one of my grown kids' former bedrooms for my train/radio/computer/office cave! (woodworking is in the garage).

Gonna have to leave some serious Daddy bucks to my kids; pay-back's gonna be a "woo woo woo" (substitution mine) for them, if not me before I kick off.

This was on my workbench and finished today!

    870CA21D-2132-44DB-8FEC-AF468E2DE925.jpeg

And before that, I put a radiator in a 2005 Silverado. Yesterday I got a truck running again for a friend. She was in tears when she got home. She loves her truck, and other “mechanics” killed the truck then bailed on her. I was left with a half installed fuel pump, no fuel filter, a messed up intake manifold, just to mention a few issues. So it had taken me a few trips to her place to get all the work finished, but on Saturday I was able to drive the truck again. First time it moved in over 2 years.

Now I have a computer to build for my niece... then I can get back to trains... er... maybe I still need to rebuild the diff in my truck so it’s safe to drive again.

Some work in the car shop today. Had this Red Caboose coil steel car that had one of the top brackets missing, still had the steel wire.

I was able to create a reasonable replacement from some styrene scraps.

After painting it was ready to be glued on to the wire bracket. While it was in the car shop, it was noted that this car still did not have low profile wheels so the wheels got replaced with metal low profile wheels. The car also got some weathering before being returned to the layout. I really like this car type and this is the only one I have so I may be on the lookout for some similar types if I can find at reasonable prices.

My workbench has been once again been taken over by non train stuff. Fun stuff yes, but not train. So after rebuilding the transmission and transfer case for my S10, I found out the rear end was wasted. When we had snow earlier this year, I found out the locker doesn’t lock. So I had the trans shop inspect my diff... they found chunks everywhere! No a happy truck part. They wanted a stupid amount for the work, so I decided to just handle this one myself. I have not done this in 25 years or so, but I remember how it’s done. Here are the new posi rear carrier, and the nest set, the gears and special tools needed are already in my shop.

Have not had much on my work bench lately, so this weekend I decided to upgrade some intermodal stuff. Been watching the Belen cam a lot and can't get over how many JB Hunt containers and trailers are in commerce. Wow!!! I also realized that my JBH containers are/were out dated, so I made new decals and have enjoyed playing. Following are only 4 cars of a 5 spine car set. The kits are from N scale Kits (UK) and are excellent runners.

Forgot to mention that I am attempting to hone my weathering skill. Not too bad for a beginner.

Thanks for looking and still be smart & safe,
    Carl

I've just been looking for more Rivarossi Motors for rebuilding (Max) and found the remains of a Pacific. This was in another modellers collection until it finally disintegrated and I ended up with it. The mechanism has ben fully stripped awaiting refurbishment. The idea is to thoroughly clean and / or replace broken bits. The drivers are virtually beyond rescuing, the siderods are rusty, the rear truck was jammed solid. A nice little project to do over the winter months (it's fall now).

Mrs Moose is finishing up a few laser wood kits. The depot still needs a chimney and the house is nearly completion... Oh, and there's a lot of muttering going on with the house -- apparently its very how should Moose put it, "fiddly"?

I watch Belen camera a lot. You sure do see a lot of oddball containers and trailers come through there. Also a lot of 'What The Heck Is That ?!' stuff.

George, that place is amazing. I wish someone would put cameras at Herford or Bovine so we could see all the stack trains passing each other in run 8. That drive on Hwy60 from Clovis to Amarillo has to be one of, if not the busiest rail corridors in the country. It certainly is the flattest run.

I got some weathering done yesterday. B&O 4108 got weathering and an ACI barcode, while WM 3579 was already weathered, I just did the trucks and added MTL couplers. Great second-gen Chessie era power!

20210323_163250.jpg This is now being moved off my bench so I can start on a layout. My base board is done and track laying can commence with gusto!, im looking forward to using these new Peco unifrog switches hopefully they'll be no need for frog switching.

Alright it's on the workbench, ( well my workbench ), now to get started working on it at some point! The orange and white parts belong to my 3D printed house. And of course the WS fencing is on there too. Can't get the motivation to start working on it yet?

My workbench still doesn't have trains on it... :(

But my workbench has been busy. I bought a 2004 Avalanche from a friend in my train club... I think I have mentioned that here before. Anywho I also bought a remanned transmission and over the weekend a friend and I tackled this job of replacing it. What a job it was too!! OMG I would do things like this when I was a kid and it never bothered me, now I finish the job and I am sore to no end! The job was miserable laying on your back, and worst of all I have to remove one more transmission from a parts truck, and do this same job to a 2002 Suburban for a friend. It's fair all and all as he was right there with me helping me get my transmission done! Good news is I now can drive my new to me truck! Oh and the differential that I posted about earleir is still waiting to go in my S10... So there is that too. So for now, still no trains on my bench, soon there will be a new toy that can be train related sitting on the bench but that will come later this week. Oh and I start a new job next Monday too! Same company, better position.
