Same in Mississippi until July 1966 when local option alcoholic beverage sales became legal. Alcoholic warehouses and stores had two (2) weeks to empty their stock or they would go to prison.

A co-worker's father owned a liquor warehouse in Biloxi. Don't remember the price, but all the cases(!) I bought were at his cost.

My wife-to-be was in a store like your gas station when a 6-8 year old slapped a five dollar bill on the counter and said "Mama wants her usual."

From up here in Canada, as a kid I remember

    Co-op
B/A (British American) - bought out by Gulf. (my uncle owned the B/A station in my home town)
Gulf - Gulf stations are apparently back in Canada since 2009 but there are none anywhere I have been.
    Shell
    Esso (Imperial Oil)
Texaco - bought out by Esso.

We had a Fina in my home town way back. There also was a Sunoco. IIRC the Fina was taken by Petro-Canada and the Sunoco became an Ultramar.

Out in the Maritimes there's Irving.

    I haven't seen a Gulf either.

When I was a kid I liked going over the gas station names and logos on one panel of the foldout road maps.

I have never heard of this one before. I suppose it was a small retail outfit that took over an old art deco station.

Malco was a New Mexico based refiner (Artesia I think) that sold fuel in the Southwest states - AZ, NM, West Texas. They sold through dealers and a handful of company owned stations (we had several in Phoenix) Their assets

Doesn't surprise me. My Vandegrift line goes all the way back to the 1640's in New Amsterdam.

Yep. I suspected it wasn't too far from Michigan:LOL:. It would make a nice model- perhaps in a warmer season?

Mine as well. Father was Dutch, immigrated in 1928 and Mother is Belgian/Dutch. Americans since 1790s. I only know of one gas station owner on mothers side. But also they (and me) made out owner fuels as well.
