Before Kato came out with their USRA Mikado, I kit bashed my own out of a Kato built Japanese National Railway 2-8-2 using an Atlas boiler shell and an Arnold Rapido tender.

Here is a later version using the USRA version.

Good morning from Sunny and Mild Northeast Ohio!

I got a couple of cars done this week along with some work on others.

Proto 2000 Single Door Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red #3 and lettered with Speedwitch Media Decals. The P&LE acquired 100 of these cars in 1941 Lot 698 for general use, this was a later 50's repaint with the black missing behind the herald.

Tangent 1979 Version of the Pullman Standard 4750CF Covered Hopper, painted with Scalecoat II MOW Gray and lettered with Islington Station Products Decals. XTRA was originally a company that leased out trailers to various end users, during the car shortage era of the late 70's they purchased numerous covered hoppers, boxcars and tank cars to lease to various users, they exited the business in 1990 and the XTRX reporting mark went to various successor companies but went away in 2016

Rapido FA-2's in Wabash livery with a general freight on the Club Layout. The Wabash acquired 4 ex-Ann Arbor FA-2's after they sold the Annie to the DT&I. The DT&I traded in 10 of the 14 FA-2's on GP35's and sold the 4 remaining units to the Wabash, two remained in the original Bluebird Sceme and two were painted in solid blue.

    Thanks for looking!

Just out of curiosity, how many freight cars have you custom painted over the years? Do you have a massive ware house to display them all?:D:)

I have about a thousand custom painted cars all in the utility area of the basement, take about 30 cars each week to the club to use. After my son builds his house this year my layout will be started and a number of cars will be on the layout.

You folks with your Mikado's. You keep tempting me to stop working on the hotel and start one myself. Well done! (y)

Well, I got the old Bachmann GE 70 tonner out the other day, and the Athearn 75th anniversary Caboose came in the mail!
So I got out some other Athearn cabooses and took some photos.

This little joint next to Amy's Pond serves some nice vittles, much appreciated by the local workers on lunch break.

I don't think there will be a run by this weekend. Too many issues with mismatched couplers and the transition section to the Water Tower Diorama. About half my fleet of PRR passenger cars require new couplers. Most of them are older Walthers models. Here is a teaser for a future run by with my PRR Fairbanks-Morse Erie Built A and B units by Proto 1000.
