Man, that SP car is super cool. (y) Never seen anything like it. Was the SP electrified somewhere or is this their subsidiary PE? Hoping that @bremner can fill me in on its history.

Actually, that car became a Pacific Electric car. The SP had a passenger system in the bay area that was all but dead just before WWII, and while I am not familiar with the details, the cars were sold to the US Maritime Commission and taken to Torrance during the war, converted to the PE standards, then sold to the PE after the war. They were nicknamed blimps due to their since and hieght. One of the combos is still in existence at SCRM.

That's the thing about the Espee. Some of the loveliest things on rails, and some of the ugliest.

I just noticed that the 3444 has an appliance of sort sort behind the stack. Is this some sort of smoke lifter? I might see an air cylinder at its base.

Yes, a pneumatically operated stack extension. That's its "low bridge" position.

Wow, NYS&W! Railcar 1002 was a product of ACF and delivered in June 1940 (along with sister 1001), so was only a month old at the time of the photo. Looking at the stairsteps on the platform and the wooden stepladder at the rear, it appears that it might have been on public display. The photo is actually at Paterson, NJ.

That thing is beautiful! Nice clean lines, subtle accents.

I think the guy on the stepladder is cleaning the windows and doing some touch-ups so it looks sparkling clean. And proud of his job, no doubt!

This class were originally 2-6-6-2s and were rebuilt in the late '20s to 0-6-6-0s. I wonder if the 951 in the photo above had been removed from service? Her stack is capped, and her headlight and marker lights are covered.
