I just wish there was an outlet for these, here in the States.

Also, see these parts from Keystone, which are available from DigiKey.

Ah bugger, thought RS components had an American outlet.

finding it a little harder these days to Google stuff, with all the cookie malarkey going on.I just want to find a shop in New Zealand that sells what I’m after, not Europe - thank you very much.

The German made connectors appear to be much like the banana clips also shown. They do grip fairly firmly but a little vibration can pull them apart.

While the stereo plug (for both channels) has a retainer on the end of the male and spring gripper on the inside of the female. This makes them more secure. Also both sides of the track could be hooked up with one plug.
But they don't always have the threaded connections on the male and not much on the female.

If I decide to go modular I will be looking for the German built or the other one displayed. Time will tell.

Thanks for the information and were to acquire them.

Those appear to be a longer version of a standard banana plug. I would think standard banana plugs would work fine and they can be found pretty much any place that sales electronic components.

That looks a lot like I described they used in the cabinet shop. Many years ago. But there still has to be an electrical connection. Where as the banana plugs may take care of that if they can give as good of alignment and rigidity.
I wait to see what others come up with. I have patience.

I also use something like these, but the dowels I have are not snap lock.
In this page you see the male one (each front has one male and one female)
    https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/italian-ho-scale-modular-layout-wip.115210/

For the tracks, at page 3 you can see the PCB I use to bombproof the track over the edges of the modules

For the electrics I use a separate connection with RC (Tamiya) 2 pole plugs for the DCC power bus, and the main AC bus.
Other connections are JST 3/4/5 pins.

Just checked on my order. Bummer. Although supposedly in stock, when I ordered them on July 8th, they won't even be shipping my parts until the 14th. A week to even ship such a small order? Seems just a wee bit slow to me. :(

    Look on the bright side.
Not counting the weekend, your order will be shipped in four "business" days.
Plus, at this time last week you didn't know if the parts were even available in the US or from whom you could order them.

Well, I checked on this yesterday and again just now. They did NOT have the items in stock, which their web site shows hundreds on hand.... They had to order from their "EU" warehouse. (Ha ha. Yeah, right. They ordered from Hirschmann as they don't actually stock these.) They are coming in two shipments. One is the plug portion, the other the receptacle.

Now for more fun, the receptacle portion shows as not yet shipped. And they show the plug shipment was delivered to me yesterday, in Denver, Colorado. I am not in Denver. I live just more than one thousand miles north of there.

    Well,......

Ha ha!! Sounds like my dealings with another getting big shipping company. They even took control of the warranty.

Maybe the banana plugs would be better.

Welcome to the world of parts procurement in the era of COVID.
If companies the size of GM and Ford can't get certain parts, what hope is there for the little guy?
By any chance, is the shipping company DHL?
    (How is life in Saskatoon?)

A few days ago I ordered a voltage convertor thru Amazon. Delivery on Saturday. Yesterday they informed me that item was no longer available from that company. So I went looking and that company had the next size larger. OK! 6 hours later I got an e-mail stating the new convertor had been shipped and will arrive today and I will be contacted by the shipper before delivery. WOW! :D
I just wonder if the shipper is still Amazon.
Over a year ago I ordered and payed for a bike from Rad and still haven't gotten it. Just insults for harassing them.
Life has become more bizarre the past couple years. Oh well.

    Boxcab,

Did you ever receive the Hirschmann banana clips?

I did. The delivery was really via an odd path. The one that shipped first, arrived at the same time as the later package. Have made a jig for placing them on module ends. Just need to get the rest of the planned module bases, and order a few more of these plugs. They also have some spst mini toggle switches I want, so will be getting a few of those as well.
