Once an integral part of railroading, now merely history rotting away on some obscure branch line or museum. Let's see some of those remaining icons of yesterdays! The Roy, Wa water tower, built by the NP a century ago, still barely standing....
As seen in Hogansville, GA on 09/23/1984, this squat and durable Atlanta & West Point water tower probably still stands. In its prime, that diamond area was filled with the A&WP's "West Point Route" logo in metal castings on each side. The line is owned by CSX and remains an important route.
surprisingly, there are a few still standing along the Union Pacific's Former Southern Pacific Sunset route, there is one in Maricopa and one in Red Rock
well, actually no ... i have a horizontal [otherwise normal configuration] on my layout, and [i assume] there is a prototype for it somewhere ?
here's an older pic of a horizontal water tank on my layout ..no idea as to who made the kit though..
