I do scuba diving in lakes and sea. River is rather unusual for me. Actually this photo is taken in Norway. Quite unusual place. Around 100 years ago some stones folled down and block small river in the mountains. As a result there is a lake and .. hidden remainings of the village. Amazing work to look at. Lots to learn for a z newbie like myself. My question, what paint and weathering techniques do you use to achieve this realistic wooden look? The loading dock looks absolutely amazing and would like to see if I can ‘replicate’ your approach to this. The model was waiting several moths to be painted. I think I bought it at: https://www.candfmodell.de/ They were probably N-scale models and I asked to rescale them into 1:220.
The top of the dock is made of real wood. This is lasercut very thin plywood with proper relief. I painted using mixtures of AK-Interactive products (Track wash, Rust streaks, Wash for wood). Stairs were painted with Velleyo acrylic paints - probably mixture of 70.882 and some grey (70.836). They are weathered with Valleyou Dark Grey Wash 76.517. That is the most probably scenario ... I do experiment with my techniques !
I came back to the inland harbour diorama. All cabblestone and pavements were placed, painted and weathered. I am not fully satisfied with the result but it was my first time to use those materials. I hope that some imperfections will be less visible with all vehicles and buildings.
