Well a friend of mine has like 3 or 4 3D printers. We met as we both do flight simulation and I have a 4 year old Discord channel for it. I added a Model Railroad category some time back and so he eventually bought an HO starter DC set, and built a 4' x 8' table. After printing some 3D items for my N Scale layout for me, he decided he wanted to switch to N Scale, and so I am sending him some old DC ONLY N Scale items to get him started, ( he will buy the track, etc... ). So he printed a house for me and it was missing a few pieces and he has better 3D printers now too. I am sending him a shipment to start him in N Scale, and he is shipping me a boat load of N Scale items, like these.

I can't wait to get them he is shipping them this week. Notice the aircraft, helicopter, etc... pertaining to our other hobby flight simulation :) Gonna have to find a Fuel type building or something? There is so much stuff he is sending me it is crazy. I am super excited. Orange cones, Jersey blocks, Car Stops, reprinted pieces for my building he sent a year ago, HVAC stuff, and the list goes on. Can't wait!

And the 3D house he sent me a year ago. The windows and such would not work that he sent me, and has since gotten a better printer in his line up. Forget the type but it's the one with the bath and stuff?

I remember you posting that house a while back - it's a beautiful print coming from a filament / fdm style printer. I've yet to figure out how to get mine to come out that clean (which is why I've migrated almost exclusively to resin printing) Your friend has to be loving the resin printers...so many tiny things to create!

    Cheers -Mike

Yep, he said this batch is mostly printed with the Resin 3D printer. For instance in the photo of the items he is sending you can see the new railing for the back porch he printed on the Resin and it did not come out well on the filament one, neither did the windows and doors. I'll take a photo after I gets the parts and install them. Hopefully the new Resin house windows work this time?

Some interesting stuff. Wish I could justify trying out one of those.

First try at painting a fuel truck. Default one on right. Not bad for first try. Really like these paint pens. Now I actually don’t mind trying to paint items. No paint bottle to tip over, brushes to clean, etc… and really can’t see minor mistakes from normal viewing angles. I have no idea why I have not tried them before?

I bought these off Amazon a while ago.

    https://www.amazon.com/Acrylic-Paintigo-Markers-Porcelain-Painting/dp/B087CDP6QY

Used up the white and yellow doing road and parking lot markings on the entire layout !

Ordered another set back in March. I like the extra fine tips. (y)

Not knowing that much about paint really, I just ordered them like @mtntrainman for use on my WS Roads, and really only wanted the Yellow & White, but since then painted the DQ Grill & Chill and now a fuel truck and F-5 with them. At first I never thought I would use the other colors. It was just a better deal at $9.99 to get 12 paint pens.

Too me they look to dry FLAT! But might depend on the description of the pens. I am gonna order another set soon, as some colors I never thought I would run out of are I think, not really sure, appear to be getting low on ink. I do wish they were see through.

This is what I bought, and will reorder soon! Now that I have so much 3D printed stuff to paint.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZG2VF8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

At some point I hope to finish the WS roads and paint the lines to see how it works too? I would also BUY an Extra Extra Fine Point if there is such a thing?

All I know is now I can paint items now with the pens. Don't like messing with paint bottles, brushes, clean up, etc... Are they perfect, NO, but gets the job done for me at least!

Here is the F-5 I just painted tonight!

    IMG_1272.JPG

Looks Orange in the picture but is the Red, Black, and Silver. I would check if it states Flat, Satin, etc... and if you are particular about close up camera shots, might not be for you! Just like when people paint Yellow, and White lines on their roads? From a normal viewing distance they look great, close up, not so much!

The ones in2tech bought and the ones I bought look and sound smiliar. I did find on mine that you can grasp the plastic point...with your thumb and index fingernails and pull it out of the barrel of the pen and wash it. The paint in the tube will NOT run out. There is a 'flap'...for lack of a better term...that closes when the plastic point isnt pushing against it that lets the paint slowly run around the plastic tip. If it 'gums up' after daily use and non-cleaning... just pull the tip out and rinse it under warm water, It is an Acrylic. Push the plastic tip back in...shake the pen...push down...or tap the point... on any scrap surface and the paint will slowly flow again.

The 'Paintigo' lists theirs as 'Premium acrylic-based Italian ink'. The 'Asani' lists theirs as....'premium Italian ink' but I believe theirs is acrylic-based also.

in2tech???? Do the tips come out on yours for cleaning ?? If so...then they would be darned near identical...and cheaper... (y)(y)

I have been using a brand called Zeyar fine point acrylic paint pens that have a removable tip for about a year now. Seventeen colors in a set with extra points. They call theirs valve action markers.

YES, the tips will come out. Did it by accident a few times! Never thought about washing them. Might give that a try! To me worth every penny of the $9.99 price. For what I want to do anyway.

I press mine on a piece of cardboard to get the paint flowing.
