Welcome to the gateway to the weekend and welcome to October! Yes, perhaps now for those of us stuck in Illinois, it will cool down some. Let's get the October model month started.

Saturday: We are trying to figure out which day to go to an Antique car show and the rain is playing havoc once again. It seams the rain only comes on weekends. Which ever day has the least likelihood of rain, this will be the day we attempt to go to said show.

Sunday: Out of the two days, I want one day to relax and just work on little projects in the shop. I have rearranged my shop/office once again and so far, happy with the results and need to make a few refinements so a trip to my favorite hardware store maybe in order. Other then that, not much planned and we'll see where the weekend takes me.

So how about you? What is on the model railroad agenda for you this first weekend of October? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 4th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    This weekend will be busy.

I will start with the installation of two decoders. One in an HO RSD 4 (RS3- supposed to be an RSD4. this one has a small problem. Wrong trucks). The second will be in an N scale intermountain SD40T.

Saturday will start early by taking a module to be put on display at the Historic Wendover Airbase Museum in Wendover UT.

Then it’s time to finish the cart and get some work done in the train room. I want to be ready for ops in a couple weeks. May come up short but I will try.

Happy TGIF to Y'all... we made it!!

So, since I wasn't able to get to my workbench the last couple of weekends, I will be hard at work on my latest F7 project.

    Report on Monday.

    Y'all have a splendid weekend,
    Wolf

Good morning all. Yes, we are now starting the last quarter of 2021. Last weekend I was out of action, got the vaccine booster then felt very run down almost all weekend and slept a lot. For this weekend I plan to put together bench work for a new tempoary turn around loop so I can take the Carlin section bench work down to start work on it.

Non MRR projects include continuing work on some drip irrigation in the back yard. Hope you all enjoy the weekend whatever you end up doing.

Well, this afternoon I hope to complete an Eastern Car Works kit, and paint it and Tangent 4740CF Covered Hopper which I completed during the week. Then in the evening it is time for bowling, hopefully bowling better than Tuesday nite's effort.

Saturday I will be decalling a 50' Boxcar and one of the completed covered hopper kits, along with a couple of more 40' trailers to fill out an intermodal train I a doing. Also starting on another kit or locomotive detailing project.

Sunday will be more of the same although we will be going to Ruggles, OH for a rememberance service for my brother-in law who died last year and no services could be held.

The Piedmont Division Model Train Show is this weekend in Cartersville GA so I plan to visit sometime on Saturday. If I find anything worth getting, that will be my project for Sunday. Also have the usual errands and house stuff to do so probably going to be a full weekend for sure.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Not sure about anything.
    What I *should* do
    and
    What I *want* to do
    are at odds.
So, *maybe* I'll do the right thing and just keep it simple which means:
    1) Just get the track supporting foam down
    2) Just paint it white so you can see it.
    3) Just lay the track.
    This means:
    1) Forget the backdrop. You just don't need it.
    2) Don't paint the brown eath color. You just don't need it.
    3) Don't worry about what other's might think.
    4) Just please yourself. Maybe this should be rull #1

Over the week I did a few '8PM to 11PM Projects where I work on the
    1) Design and

    Development
    2) Print and cut
    3) Fold and photograph
This week it was paper or cardstock 'round homes'
    https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/paper-and-card-structures.53929/page-19
I also did up a 'storage' tank using a can. It has multible 'sheeths that I can slip over it with different messages such as 'Happy Birthday' or 'Stay Calm, Run Trains'. I can easily print any message I like.

This weekend there is some shopping to do, and the wife wants to start on the Halloween decorations. From now until mid-January our house is in a constant state of decoration. I may also try to get some yard work done depending on how my back feels.

On the layout I want to finish relaying the track in the area I painted the foam. Next will be testing and making sure there are no track issues. Then outline the track and begin laying foam roadbed. I also have a few passenger cars to remove the plastic couplers and add Kadee couplers.

Hope to glue and nail the fascia boards around the perimeter of my N Scale train table, then do a little paint touch up on it all.

Late getting on here today due to eye Dr. appointment. All good (for my age). Last Saturday's mini vacation has me running behind (as usual). I did get all roof hatches done. Just yesterday began making coupler hooks. I decided to make more instead of checking parts backstock. ;). They will need to be formed next. Then onward and upward. :D All be well and safe.

    Simple goals for this weekend:
    1. Extended subroadbed, road bed and track to the furnace lift out. This is about 6 feet with a transition from a 1.5% grade to flat and a 36” radius curve.

    2. Tidy up the layout space for guests expected to visit in about 2 weeks (which may turn into regular monthly sessions).

Will be painted the turntable bridge which I had assembled last weekend. Might contemplate a little light weathering. Perhaps I will also lay the lead track for that, and look at where the engine house and other tracks will be sited. Thereafter, who knows what other mischief I might make happen? :)

Not much to speak of. More design and development of ideas than anything else. I need plain cardstock and I don't want to use that 'Brazilian River' company.
    Supplies list
    • Cardstock for structures - I need to perfect my container homes and begin building larger structures. I've done up a simple freight station.
    • Scuptamold for terrain - Never used it but think I can
    • Light brown paint for terrain - color transforms everything
    • More #11 Xacto blades - for everything
    • Masonite for Backdrops - sigh, did not want to do that. (Edit:), Oh, designed a way to have them free standing so they can be swapped out and updated / improved as my skills do - or maybe a family member will. ☻
Hope I have a different story for next week.
