    Nice looking GP18's Russell!

Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio! After 11 Tornado Warnings last night things have calmed down in the area.

    This weeks completed work!

Athearn 50 Ton Composite Side War Emergency Hopper Car, moved the brake components to their prototype location and added airlines from the reservoir to the ABD valve, also hung a main air line under the side of the car. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Black paint and lettered with Mark Vaughn's Wabash decals. In 1943 the Wabash built 400 of these cars for themselves and 75 for the Ann Arbor in their Decatur Shops. Most were gone by the time of the N&W merger in 1964.

Red Caboose R70-15 Mechanical Refridgerator Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. These were 1977 repaint of 1965 delivered cars. These cars could be found on PFE trains during the summer while PFE cars went to the BAR in winter during the potato hauling season. The BAR sold a lot of their cars to PFE after they lost the potato traffic to trucks following the 1969 PC mess in the Selkirk yard where cars sat for so long the potatos rotted in the cars.

Wow, your BAR reefer is an outstanding model Rick. Beautiful. Thanks again for your brief narratives on the prototype histories of each car you work. I find them as interesting as the models. (y)

Here is some more color. Not trains but for sure layout related:

My latest DIY and one of my favs :[IMG]

MY #1 fav. I actually drove this rig out of CUSA's Albuquerque terminal in late 60's early 70's, could not resist this bash job :

Next time, I'll do a train. Oh what the heck how about another fav DIY :

    Thanks for looking. Be well,

Carl, did you work for Chevron? I worked for a while for a petroleum wholesaler up in Anchorage that took over the Chevron oil distribution in Anchorage although they still delivered the fuel. We had trucks like yours and it is sure different from the semi truck with large trailers here back east. Our drivers preferred the tank on the truck and pup as they were easier to maneuver.

    Rick,

Yes I worked 33 years for Chevron. I started in El Paso, in 1963, with Standard Oil Company of Texas ( SOTEX ), went through many reorganizations. I actually retired back in El Paso in 1996 from Chevron USA Inc. as transportation field rep. I was responsible for all modes, mostly rail, in an area that included West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Yes, I found the body load and pup is more maneuverable, as long as you do not have to back one up.

    Hi all,

This morning when Russell mentioned working with a photo diorama reminded me of one I made back when I did not have much of a layout to photograph models on. I had almost forgotten about this.

After seeing how well my new Broadway Limited PRR I1sa loco pulled a long train I decided to test the limits some. Here are the results. The I1sa pulling 30 cars past the Water Tower with not too much effort. To date this is the longest train on the new layout and the longest train I have every had with one locomotive.

Good catch on the GP18's. I did not correctly ID them. I am pondering doing some war emergency cars myself. Nice work all round.

In the city of McDonald (at the Sebring Model Railroad Club), it's only a stones throw between sin and salvation. You can clearly see the twin towers of the local Catholic church a few blocks behind the Victoria's Secret Hotel (hourly rates available). [IMG]
