Welcome back to that Gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week and a special thanks to my friend Bremner for watching the station in my absence. Angela, her Dad and I went camping in South Dakota and it was a nice break from all the problems of this past summer. It is good to be back however and start working on where I left off before the trip. Let's get started.

Saturday: Not sure yet, it is going to be in the 60's and sunny so I should work on any and all projects outside and in the garage. We are getting closer to the colder, wet weather so my days of working in the garage are slowly coming to an end. I'll play it by ear I guess.

Sunday: Is rain, rain, rain. Did I mention rain? I hope to work a bit on both the N scale and HO layouts a bit as well as relax with the wife and pups.

So how about you? What are you planning on working on this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 25th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

I'm going to try the inverse logic again.
    I ain't gonna do nothin.
Nope, not gonna get nothin done.
Seem e again in 3 days to determine if I succeeded.

Ok, I *might* get a video of practice cutting out cardstock buildings, stone walls, and fences.
Then again? I might go for a walk on this beautiful October weeekend.
    So there.

Happy weekend all. No active modeling this weekend due to an out of town trip to the beach. Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, NC area. HOWEVER, even on vacation modeling is important. I'm taking a huge glass mason jar and will fill it up with fine beach sand. I am out of it and that stuff is great for scenery details, small dirt roads, etc. (Our grown kids will be coming by and staying some here to sit the dog, maybe I should give them a task in the layout room.... that's the ticket (y) )

Beyond that it will be cold beer in the sand by day and seafood by night. Everyone have a great weekend.

Work through options to shelve power supplies under the layout. My wife has some unused wire rack shelves which might be perfect after I cut them to fit.

Good morning all. We are finally starting to get some badly needed rain here in Northern California so good thing I got last weekend's bench work project done on in the driveway when I did and can now stay indoors.

I have been refining the track layout on the two Carlin bench work sections and have started laying cork on the smaller one. Over the weekend I plan to continue with the cork and work on plans for buildings, roads, etc.

May you all have a great weekend whatever you end up doing.

Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio!, after 11 Tornado Warnings in our area last night we managed to avoid any damage in our area but a couple of others did have some damage.

Tonight is bowling, but I hope to get some masking done on a boxcar so it can be painted over the weekend.

Saturday, is our monthly club meeting and we are having a pizza party after the meeting, been tough to do things like that over the last couple of years as we were limited on the number of people allowed in the layout area. Will also start decaling a couple of cars in the evening.

Sunday, after doing the laundry I should get a couple of boxcars painted along with decaling and assembling some cars, still have not started on the C36-7 that I am going to build.

Currently following a conversation concerning an HOn30 diesel shell. Many of us REALLY want to see this one produced!!! So I will be keeping up with this discussion. Thinking about putting together another module base kit for my future empire. Will be painting that box car, or else! I want to research and see if I can find some particular older HOn30 freight car kits, somewhere.... And???

Despite my better efforts, it's been tough to find time to get down to the layout the past couple of months. This weekend looks pretty tight as well but hopefully I can get down and do a little scenery work or maybe get started on a little under the layout project I have been trying to get to for months now.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

After a busy 4 days of work, I ended up with a three-day weekend.

Friday: Build a second #8 turnout, start building the scale track and get more benchwork material for the second level. (DONE)

Saturday: Build two #6 left turnouts and install them on the layout.

Sunday: Install the two #8 turnouts and get track laid in the south end of the yard.

If the weather stays nice I have a few outside things to do such as trimming the forsythia in the backyard and removing a dead bush from the side garden. Inside there are the usual weekend things.

I have been going through some rolling stock and assessing what tuning up is needed or not. In particular the 30 cars I recently used in a train (will post photos later in Weekend Photo thread). About 10 of them need something ranging from replacing plastic wheels and couplers to repairing a broken ladder. My plan is to work on those items. If there is time and I need a change of pace I need to place some roadbed.

Try to get the new/used VO-1000 working this weekend, if not Return it next week. Generally do some more mockups with the one layout base, to get an idea of how I kind of want it to look, maybe? Contemplate DCC wiring since I got my N Scale terminal joiners in and have my terminal blocks too now. This is going to take awhile for me. Enjoy the nice Fall weather too. Hopefully NOT cut the yard till next week. maybe one or two cuts left for the Fall/Winter in the South. I hope!

No modeling this week, again. Lori and I are heading out on a cruise that we booked over two years ago. It was originally scheduled to depart April 2020, when Covid shut everything down. I'm kinda ambivalent about it but it was use it or lose it. I'd feel better about it if the cruise line (RCL) wasn't allowing unvaccinated passengers on board, but I'm sure they'll do their best to keep everyone safe, and I'll probably enjoy it once we're underway. Then when we get back, we're off to Hilton Head to meet with the designers to pick out the finishes for the (winter) retirement home which should be getting under construction late this winter. Have a great weekend everyone.

Interesting forthcoming projects listed here. As for me: Friday went to Georgia. First stop (after harrowing traffic) Duluth's Southeastern Railway Museum. Very Impressive. Too short a visit due to tight schedule. Next: Blue Ox in Roswell. Just to check it out. Huge selection. Arrived in Ellijay by supper. Hiked some at Fort Mtn. Then fried apple pie. Then headed home. Once I adjust my brain, I hope to resume the rail car project. :D Have safety and be fun! (y)
