Powered tenders is still the way they do it.. even on their HO. Here is the new version (BR43) that came out just recently.
I am NOT a tram person, but that look so cool. Glad you got the power, and no power stuff worked out and the power stuff for a good price. Once again not a tram person, but man, this one is sweet!
So calculator running, beep bop beep, so enough terminals for 25 more turn outs at $25.00 a piece roughly, Only $625.00 more if I did the math right, which I am pretty sure I did not Good try, but no thanks! For 100 female terminals that cost $6.00 bucks! beep, bop, beep, end....
Atlas Wiring Book and Atlas Track Components and Layouts. Came today. Yesterday I found two old books in storage; "Logging Railroads of the West" and "Wisconsin Central Railway - 1871-1909 Photo Archive" If you like steam engines and big bridges. As well as all the logging equipment these are great. I got these when I started going to HO. Bought them at the big show in Green Bay.
I had the same rolling quality issue on the Rapido "Canadian" passenger cars. To solve the issue I used Micro-Trains bolster washers between the truck and the under frame. In doing so the cars now roll very well, however the car lighting is impacted because the contact strips no longer touch. Any suggestions?
Those slide-on connectors for your switches make life easy, connections a piece of cake. I'd have never thought anyone made something that would fit.
What is the thickness on those washers? I've only updated 2 of the cars in my set so far but they seem to light ok although I've only briefly ran them to test. I did not use washers though. I cut small tabs from a .010" x .08" wide styrene strip then CA'd them to each side of the bolster on the frame to test. I figured shim thickness was crucial to not interfere with lighting and one really doesn't need much to keep the axles from rubbing on the frame spine. I'll snap some pics if that helps. Not sure how well the CA will hold up but for now it's just an experiment. The other fix is just to grind out the frame spine where the axles rub. And from what I can tell it seems to be only the axle closest to the end of the car that is rubbing so a little marking axle location on the frame with the truck on then trimming with the truck removed would likely cure the problem too.
I've had 'Wiring Projects for your model railroad' from Model Railroader magazine gifted today. It looks very interesting. Birthday/Christmas gift from a neighbor lady. Rich
Paul's used to be a regular stop coming home from Gettysburg for us. They had some very nice cats there. It was right across from the Western Maryland station.
Having been in N Scale since 1968 and having a fancy for the old stuff, it's funny that I didn't even notice the wheels. That, and my aging vision. My Santa Fe Arnold Rapido F's are on duty by our Christmas tree with a matching string of Arnold passenger cars. I think I received the set for Christmas 1970. The F's needed some lubrication and I had to smile, with body shell removal a two-second process. I contrast that with my newer units, with body shell removal a two-hour process. @Doug Gosha would appreciate.
Thanks. Pictures would be very helpful. I do not want to file the underframe so am focusing on the shim solution.
Here is all I got from my latest purchase. Apparently the CFO intercepted it upon arrival to use as stocking stuffers on Christmas morning. Guess I will have to wait.
My new My Tram by Kato arrived this time the red version and it has already been on the rails. 100_1517-1 by John Moore posted Dec 13, 2021 at 2:45 PM
Open the shell of the cars and bend the contact strips down a bit to make up for the space the washer leaves.
These are on my to get list. I’m just hoping they don’t skyrocket in price before I can get them. Thankfully I got the Unitrams when they were cheap, but when I wanted to add a couple more to my fleet they cost 2 to 3x what I originally paid.
Well when I ordered this a week ago I saw a green and white version. Went back today and they are sold out dang it. In a late addition I just checked my 2nd Japanese vendor and got lucky and a Green Mover is on the way. Kato 14-804-1 Hiroshima Railway Type 1000 'Green Mover LEX' (N scale)
