A Zanesville and Western SD24 I thought up. I used Z Scale decals for early 1900's coal gondolas I found on the web. The Z&W ran from Zanesville to Columbus as well as South out of Zanesville. Here's a brief history. http://www.columbusrailroads.com/ne...menu=51Railroad_Stories_by_James_M._Cavanaugh
I have a few to offer as well. Below a spartan cab SD70 in SL-SF livery, built 2 of them. Below is SLSF SD70 996 freshly done and into service. Here they are after a few years in service.
@gjslsffan 'Loco' In an oval dark grey or bright white lettering against a black background, 'This Car Does Not Exist' or 'You Can't See This Car' or in 'Frisco' colors, 'Frisco Moves Mystrium'.
@gjslsffan That is a mystery but it might be similar to my avatar. ☻ There may be a few scientist at 'RATIO' that know but they aren't saying.
Based on Atlas 28' 'Shorty Beer Can Tank Cars' I'm open to suggestions for 'Your Throughts Here'. Anyone know of a custom decale person?
Depending on how detailed you want to be, you may be able to do it yourself. I’ve made decals myself on my printer. I made some basic signs and reporting marks for some of my buildings and gondolas on PowerPoint and then printed on clear background decal paper as well as white background decal paper (printers don’t have white ink, so you need white paper for white letters). To find the right font size I printed out different font sizes and types on regular printer paper first to compare it to the space I was looking to fit it in. If you have a decent printer and are clearly good enough to draw up that picture (on PowerPoint?) you can probably do it yourself. All you need is decal paper and dull coat or glossy clear (depends what look you’re going for) to seal it in. I recommend 3 coats, with at least 3 hrs between initial printing and each coat to really seal the ink in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@MetraMan01 Thank you! That was great! I did those up using 'MS Paint' that comes with Windows. I've been using it so long it is easy for me despite my low vision. Clear decal paper, (Good point about the white). I never thought about that. I'll use black or red text on a white background. Test print - very good advice Seal with Dulcote. 3 times with 3 hours between. I'll have to try that. Thanks again!
First time I did it I didn’t get good results because I didn’t seal it well. The ink came off the paper. If that happens, just go back with the rest of the decals on the sheet and try and seal it again. The decal paper should be coated, but not soaked with dullcote. Lots of little coats worked best for me and the paper I had. Also, I made multiple copies of each design on the decal paper so if I screwed up, I could try again (and I did). I’m not good enough to draw/paint my own graffiti by hand but I’d like to get good enough with paint or PowerPoint to draw realistic graffiti designs and make my own graffiti decals. If you’re not happy with the results-let me know. I’ve bought decals from a guy on eBay. I think he might be interested in making custom decals based on what he sells. He does graffiti, reporting marks, containers and centerbeam loads (these are out of wood, covered in paper with the sawmill/lumber company’s logos). I bought his graffiti but haven’t tried it out yet. But the centerbeam loads are great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
