Your situation has got me thinking of a possible alternative method. I used to be in the rubber stamp business. I am wondering if you were to spray some paint onto say some scrap styrene and then touch the roof lettering to the wet paint would work. Much like applying ink to a rubber stamp using an ink pad. Just a thought.
Could always be stripped and re-painted. If the model is painted with solvent based paint and you use water based for the the stamp you could just wash it off.
I'll have to look at the letters closely and make sure they're all even as well, this may be an option worth trying, stay tuned.
Or, why not try this method... backwards? Instead of flipping the sign and touching it to paint, why not cut off a small piece of foam (from a cheapy foam paint brush) and use *that* to carefully dab paint to the sign? This will give you a little more control *and* since those brushes are cheap (often on sale for 10 for $1) you can even "practice" with one using ink or something more easily removable before you try it with paint. Somehow I managed to get this far without killing myself - Sandwiched the pieces into the adaptor, pushed it down, but I can’t get the pin in to save my life and it seems to be high. View attachment 247798
It's a little high but that truck on the hopper looks likes it's cocked downwards. Did you check with a ride height gauge? As far as the trip pin goes I install those while the coupler is in pieces. Upside down on a flat surface then clamp the pin in a pair of hemostats and gently rotate it till it catches in the hole properly aligned then drive it in.
Converting 2 Atlas Classic undec RS11s to RSD12s for Penn Central. Not nearly as simple as I imagined, but they're getting there. These things had more lube in them than the 1:1s !!! Also have undec Kato E8B that will be Penn Central. Hardest part is installing MT 1128s. Trying to apply last tiny decal to number board of Penn Central DL109 for my version of "The Dummy" commuter train. Keeps folding, wadding up, or even disappearing !!! GRRR !!! Installed MTs on both Kato Penn Central GG1s yesterday, turned out GREAT !!! Wondering why The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black" keeps playing in my head !!!
