    I was amazed at what I got for JUNQUE on FeePay. I used to list items or lots starting at five or six dollars and more then a few of the listings triggered sniping wars. I once listed something and put into the text in CAPSLOCK "THIS IS JUNK!". This was in addition to stating three other times in the text that it was junk. I listed it for five dollars. It sold for just under twenty.

    I put "this is junk" in CAPSLOCK only once, because it really was junk. It was not just "standard" junk,m it was the REAL THING: JUNQUE. Usually, I put that it was junk two or three times in usual font. I would put further that it was "good only for parts". "might be good for parts" and always added that it was being sold "as is". Despite that, every once in a while I did get some Rocket Scientist who did not read the text. FeePay resolved all of those disputes in my favour. They had to point out to the buyer that I stated more than once that it was defective, junk and "as is".

    Try putting up some junk. You will be truly amazed at what people will pay for it.

    Seen in a shop in Maine last summer:
    "We buy junk and sell antiques."
    Somehow I think this applies...

    I'm beginning to wonder if there shouldn't be a category for such. Where we speak of the work of Sales Leaders. Especially the internet types. :unsure:

    Or some sort of eBay language/image translator.

    Untested = Doesn't Run
    New In Box = Missing and Broken Parts
    Atlas = Reader's Digest/High Speed
    Bad Photography = I'm Hiding Something

    TCA Grading system. (Which is designed for TINPLATE trains, not scale stuff.) Subtract two and you will be closer to actual condition.

    Know this isn't a ebay auction however it is worth a mention here , possibly a Honorable mention at that. I wouldn't give this seller $95.00, I would give him $1.00 to $4.00 and that's being generous I believe.

    In the description it does say "Good luck" .............. that may refer to after the auction is over. :)

    Thanks, you answered a question that has crossed my mind several times. I've seen numerous selling listings of non-tinplate trains with TCA gradings and thought that I'd missed some sort of expansion of the system, but I remained confused because several of the TCA grades specifically mention "rust" and "dents", hardly attributes of plastic trains. It's too bad that the TCA's system has been commandeered and perverted into something it was never created to cover. :(

    You're correct. Sheesh, my head is ready to explode looking at some of the eBay listings you uncover, with most by Sellers with thousands of transactions who have no idea what they have. Their credo seems to be If In Doubt, Guess.

    Or, if in doubt, name a brand that has a lot of other listings on eBay.

    Yeah, I see that sort of thing a lot. To many ebay sellers "Micro Trains" just means "small trains."

    This is an "N scale custom painted grey unlettered F7A shell" if you didn't know. However, it's only $7 with Free Shipping. How does the Seller not lose money?
