... that doesn't look at you like you are nuts and doesn't charge as if the items are gold plated. I need some, (not a huge quantity), of: #2 sheet metal screw, round head, Phillips drive, 3/8" length #2 wood screw, flat head, Phillips drive, 3/8" length. I checked at my local Fastenal and other fasteners stores, hardwares, etc. Nobody stocks anything smaller than #4. The guy at my Fastenal store looked at me as if I was from another galaxy. Just a bit rude. I lack the millions of dollars some places I am seeing on line are asking for these tiny pieces.
My local True Value Hardware usually cares those but in small quantities. Depending on availability lately.
I have used Micro-Fasteners for all my small screw purchases in larger quantities. Their prices are fair and shipping is not prohibitive. https://www.microfasteners.com/ Rick Jesionowski
You might try MSC at https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn?searchterm=#2 screw sheet metal&hdrsrh=true&rd=k . They stocked our fastener bins where I used to work, though I think Rick's suggestion is a better one.
https://www.microfasteners.com/ is very interesting if a larger quantity is necessary. The size gauges are very interesting now. Thanks for the link.
Well, an update. My order with "Micro Fasteners" was never received. They do not respond to inquiry via their email "info@...". I do not have time right now to sit on a phone and for such a small amount. Am filing a complaint with PP.
For stuff like that I rely on McMaster Carr. https://www.mcmaster.com/wood-screws/screw-size~no-2/ https://www.mcmaster.com/sheet-metal-screws/screw-size~no-2/
Those guys are good. I used to get all kinds of unusual stuff from them back in a previous work life. Doug
The Fastenal guy was probably just embarrassed because they don't really do what...you know...their name says. It should be "Fastensome". Doug
At my workplace we switched to McMaster Carr after the local hardware/fastener seller closed up shop thanks to our favorite little spiky virus...
After filing my complaint with PP, I quickly received a voice mail from the supplier. They claim it was shipped, but somehow mis-routed. I called a couple of times this morning and finally got a human. They promised to ship again, ASAP. So,.......... Waiting, again.
