just picked up one of these old timers, looks as if it was never used. Of course it is in need of lubrication. Any idea how to get inside one of these.
I believe Spookshow had a bit on getting it open. I have 1 and have not tried to open it yet. I plan on putting a decoder in it.
Initially shipped in undecorated black injection molded plastic in a factory supplied green and white cardboard window box, the now defunct company More manufactured these JNR (Japaneses National Railway) prototype models. Later releases were pad printed with American liveries by Con-Cor and shipped in clear plastic jewel boxes with Con-Cor product description tags on the end of the lower half of the box. To this day, no one knows what became of the tooling for these splendid running self propelled models with rotating blades.
Pretty neat. I've been in N Scale for a very long time and never knew about these until seeing this thread.
Micro Ace also makes a powered one based on Japanese prototype. Does require a pusher locomotive but the rotary is powered. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10369110/20/2
That is one really nice looking model. Think I'm going to have to locate one of the Micro Ace rotary plows. Thanks for sharing.
I've been around N scale since forever and this is the first time I can recall seeing one of these...and they don't look bad.
Looking at the rotary snow plow got my creative juices going...again. I will make a separate post when I get all the parts together....
A long time ago I built my own powered unit. Has a working headight also and power is from a Bachmann tender. Rotary by John Moore posted Mar 15, 2013 at 8:23 PM
