You done good, Pastor! Bet that Can Opener runs like a top. Looks like good old Athearn Blue Box. You know, seriously, I'd love to see a day that all tractor trailer freight goes by rail. Deliver it to a hub, have local drivers deliver it within the prescribed radius. Drivers home every night, able to support a family life. Years ago when I drove LTL and X country, I was a virtual slave to that truck. It was a terrible life. Lot of guys do it because that is what is available, and it shreds families and marriages effortlessly.

Course, there are some that like it. I haven't met too, too many of those.

This is babble, I know, but for the stuff that had to be there yesterday: allow it at a 100% tariff. Everything else, load 'em up. Railroads would respond to shipper demand for better service, and with PTC and everything dispatched on a computer, no reason not to.

But railroads are getting raided by the gangs. While so many truckers are in DC.

I drive local, but I'm hardly ever home. Most of my days are 10, 12 sometimes 13 hours long. But, I get OT and that helps buy toys! Anyway, this beauty came in the mail over the weekend. I see these a lot here in California, along hwy 99. I have this Athearn HO model and a Fox Valley and a Red Caboose version in N:

Picked up a couple more freight cars recently. The CSX box car is simialr to one I saw at a container company called Cal Sheets in Stockton, Ca. The bulkhead flat is going to have a steel plate load made for it. DSCN2564.JPG DSCN2568.JPG

Here are a couple Tangent PS 4000cuft hoppers that showed up recently. They were immediately modified for rotary dump use and put to work. One has just been dumped and the other is just out of the dumper and grabbed by the indexer.

Since I now have real PS cars, I changed the numbers on the set of Walthers cars that all had PS numbers in spite of being Bethlehem cars. Just for fun, tried to see how many I can do so the digits add up to 21. At the head of the train is BN9228, 9255 and EMD 9048.

A few more that I bought off eBay. Trying to keep the fleet colorful ala the Conrail years.

My preorders are starting to arrive. Newest additions are the ATSF F3 A-B and F7 A-B from BLi with Paragon 4.

Here they sit in the staging yard with four of the new steamers I bought. Just finished decal and programming those too. Just minus the 2-8-8-2 I decaled for DRGW. That went back in the box to take to the club next week to run. All locos are BLI the second Silver FB units is an F7 Athearn blue box I had laying around.

A recent purchase of mine is the Lima Collection ICE-T electric EMU from Germany. I recently found one that was beat up on Ebay for a decent price and it still runs quite well. but I only have 3 cars and will need two more to make the full train. Lima has not made these models in like 20 years but you can find the Roco ICE-T more easily. Lima was originally an Italian company and in the 90s they began producing French and German trains before they were merged with Hornby and Jouef. The Pantographs were so busted that I had to use tape to keep them from springing up. At some point I will hard wire in DCC and given these models hade relatively simple circuitry it won't be hard to do.

Looks like I’m getting into HOn3 now. Just received this MMI K27 2-8-2. Now to put a decoder in it.

If you can help please remind me what is the difference between HOn3 and HOn30. It's been a long time since I knew such things.

Oh it already has and my wife is getting an idea that something is up. I plan on building two module sets is all. I need to finish up some N scale modules as well then I will focus on HO. I’m running out of room to store all these things.[IMG]

So, is it that my memory is right that HOn30 is N gauge track and HOn3 has a special track and cars?

Yes HOn30 can run on N scale track, but they do make HOn30 track that has the ties spaced out a little further. I have some and it is code 80. HOn3 has narrow gauge track as well. I will be using code 70 rail. Here you can see the train in the foreground is HOn3. The engine and fox car in the background is standard gauge. Definitely different sizes.[IMG]
