I got a dozen Tichy N scale sugar beet cars I'm actually spray painting boxcar red. FINALLY, I'm actually making something for the layout instead of constantly buying more stuff for it. If I'm lucky, I may be able to start assembling the sugar beet cars by Saturday. Hmm... I notice that Kiz didn't say WHICH Satur- day...
Almost finished painting the sugar beet cars. Just the car ends to paint. But the sun is near to setting, so I'll wait til tomorrow.
I have no idea how to post photos... I'm technologically impaired. I guess I could use my wife's point and shoot digital camera, but I'd need complete, step-by-step instructions how to post them here using an Apple iMac.
Do you know how to get the images from the camera to the computer? If so and once you do that and are creating your post, in the lower right next to the "post reply" button there is an "upload file" button. Click that which brings up a prompt with a "choose file" button that you click. That brings up your file explorer where you locate the image on your computer, select it then click "open" and wait a little bit for it to upload. It should automatically close the file browser when done and below and to the left of the buttons your image should appear. From there you can leave as is or place your cursor in the text where you want the image to appear full size then click the "full image" button next to the image to insert it in your post.
Well looking for a few more ore cars and frustrated with offerings out there on Ebay. Mostly overpriced since I can buy one new for a few dollars more than some offerings and some are way over priced for a used car almost double what they go for new. So have a few coming from Ebay but I decided ti build my own. Steel frame wood cars. The Atlas is 24 N scale feet long and mine will be 22 N scale feet long. The sides so far have five pieces of styrene and some more to go. Floor is from .060 styrene and I am making my own truck bolsters. 100_1810-1 by John Moore posted Jun 3, 2022 at 7:25 AM
Well, I finished spraying my 12 Tichy sugar beet gondola kits box car red today. I WILL make the effort to start assembling them tomorrow (Saturday).
A little progress on the steel framed wood side ore car and a lot of styrene parts and still more to be added. 100_1811-1 by John Moore posted Jun 4, 2022 at 11:57 AM 100_1813-2 by John Moore posted Jun 4, 2022 at 11:57 AM
Well progress on the 2nd prototype steel framed wood ore car. I now have prototypes 1 and 2 and each is different. 100_1814-3 by John Moore posted Jun 4, 2022 at 8:22 PM 100_1815-4 by John Moore posted Jun 4, 2022 at 8:22 PM The differences between one and two is and 18 foot hopper on two and a 21 foot hopper on one plus the structural steel work. Probably going to build two more of the number two and at least one more of the number one.
Well worked on two more cars today and in the process changed up again as far as the structural steel goes on the ends. 100_1817-1 by John Moore posted Jun 5, 2022 at 5:23 PM And here is where I am tucking my lead weight. 100_1818-2 by John Moore posted Jun 5, 2022 at 5:23 PM
Got a coat of paint on today, Vallejo pale grey blue. Also installed the letter boards. 100_1820-1 by John Moore posted Jun 6, 2022 at 3:35 PM
Well dug into my stock of brass ladders and now installing ladders on the ore cars. The thin brass ladders are a bear to work with and maintain on the cars but look much better than the plastic ones. I chemically treat my brass with a brass blackener and found that it holds paint better. Also installed the brake wheels on today. Still remaining are the ladders on the ends. 100_1821-2 by John Moore posted Jun 6, 2022 at 6:39 PM
Well today I decaled the cars and then weathered with Bragdon's weathering powder. In this case blue for the blue moly ore dust. Now time to work on loads. 100_1823-1 by John Moore posted Jun 7, 2022 at 8:47 PM
