I am also thinking about ordering this in N Scale. What are the Dark pieces in front of the actual fence? Are those included in the one kit for $14.00? I might order a few items from them. Anyone know the shipping charge?

    Thanks!

Those are the pieces you glue to the front and back of the fence posts and gate braces to give a 3D/extruded look to those parts of the fence. If you look closely at my previous pic as well as SP-Wolf's you can see the posts and gates have more realistic wider dimensions. They aren't critical to the fencing but they do make it look nicer IMO.

Do an internet search for "Monroe Models N 9310 Barn Yard Fence" then click the shopping results tab which will give you some options. Some shipping as low as $5.

So they go in the front and back of each post, along with the gate cross bracing? If so really cool.

070522 I received my new 'barnyard fence' from one of my fav etailers.

Today I went out and started tearing down the old fence and putting up the New fence, I took some filing and grinding to get all the old fence 'stumps' leveled off. The new fence posts are a bit long...as the instruction say to use a #80 drill bit to drill holes for ALL those new fence posts !! "I don't think so Tim !" :censored::censored:

I snipped the posts down a little bit at a time until THE Wife was happy.

I started the new fence in the far corner and measured and glued (superglue) the new fence in. It took some doing to make sure the fence was as straight in line and to the property and road as possible. Even just gluing the fence butted to the layout wood it's still pretty robust.(y)(y)

THE Wife didn't want the new fence 'stark white' so some creative distressing came into play as i went along. ;)

I used the first package of fence and stopped for the day. :coffee::coffee::coffee:

So far we are really happy with this new (to us) fence from Monroe Models (y)(y):)

Looks really nice, so you like it? I only need one package, me thinks! Maybe next order from your favorite etailer :) Yeah my order shipped from them today, yippee, finally. Although it was the date they gave me :) Osborn C-172, Piper Cub, and picnic tables. I should have kept the Monroe Models fence in the cart after seeing yours :)

Just like in real life putting up fences is a pain in the butt.

Maintaining them is no fun either...

Reminds me of a short story we read when I was in Jr High (I think; that was a long time ago.) It was about two New England neighbors' annual re-stacking of the stone fence between them, repairing the past winter's frost-heave damage. The moral of the story was "good fences make good neighbors" (and vise versa), working on a fence together to keep their separate lives separate.

Alas, it was not a short story, but a poem; "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost. Maybe my memory of the story and its meaning faded/changed a bit over time, having just re-read it. Good read, available free online. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/44266/mending-wall

The fence looks fantastic! The weathering on it even more so. I failed to mention they were ply adding greatly to their durability. Almost to a fault as I had to score some of the rails on mine to get the fence to follow the contour of the uneven ground I installed mine on.

The fence does look realistic. Very nice.

Note to self. In order to keep up with the Jones's. At some point in the future order these fences. To much to do in the meantime.

Hmmm... I wonder if "Mending Wall" might make for a nice micro-scene on a layout...

    070822...

Had some errands to run this morning so got a late start. The A/C on THERR RV went out so it gets hot early out there ! :censored: My nephew owns his own HVAC Co. and he is supposed to get out here and check it out for me...:D

Only had a few hours I could stand the heat out there so I got busy fencing around the ranch house today. Lots of measuring and remeasuring to get the gates where they need to be...

Putting the added width pieces on the posts (to make them look fatter) and the corner bracing pieces seems to be the most time consuming...:coffee:

Then there are the gates to make...:censored::censored::censored:.

A friend says he has a box fan I can borrow. We have to go back into town later so I will stop by his place and pick that up...:D:D

Wow the fence really looks good around the house, barn, and shed. Do you have enough to close them all in so the animals and people can't get away :) You gonna put gates in that dirt driveway? I for sure want some of these at some point. Are they fairly easy to build?

Yup...have double gates that go at the end...by the road. Have a single gate that goes on the driveway to the barn. There is a lot of fencing still to do. You can see from the older pic that the fence curves with the road and ends at the J&J Horse Ranch sign then hangs a right and ends at the hill for THERR.

The most tedious part is gluing hundreds of those post width extenders on !!o_O Lucky for me I am only putting them on one side of the posts...not both sides like the instruction show !!:whistle:

My plan is to have my pasture fence look much like this....

With the rails nailed to one side of the posts...as opposed to running through the posts.

    Sooooooooooooooooooooo............

THE WIFE is looking for n scale chickens to put out back of the ranch house with the chicken coop. I look online and I only find 3D printed ones. $18.00 for 20 chickens plus they ship from Germany ! Now call me crazy but n scale chickens can't be what... 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch in size...max !!!

I can take a needle and some hot glue and make little blobs...dry brush em with black...white...and tan paint and super glue them about the back yard and around the chicken coop and say... "HEY LQQK...CHICKENS !!!!:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
