I have 2 Klee Kai and an Aussie. As soon as they hear anything outside they start barking. They have chased off other dogs...cats...cattle...horses...javelins...raccoons...deer...elk and 'salesmen' just from barking inside behind the front door...:ROFLMAO:(y)(y)(y)

Funny, our Chihuahua, "Lucky," (first name "Damn,") a rescue, behaves the same, but does not achieve the same effect...

That dog can hear incredibly well, when he wants to. One of our friends has nick-named him "Doorbell".

Unfortunately, his false alarm rate is a little high. The garbage, UPS, FedEX, Amazon, or mail truck just has to come down the street to set him off. He even goes off on the mail truck when it comes back around on the opposite side about 5 or 10 minutes later. Heck, he even goes off on a doorbell sound on TV!

I guess to me, good scenery always evokes me being able to imagine myself being in the scene and this does exactly that. I can easily imagine myself driving up that road past the farm and stopping at the crossing to wait for the train to pass and admiring it, of course.

Looks like 'Grandma' put 'Grandpa' to work in the back yard. She had him put up a tire swing in the big tree back there for the grand kids to play on when they come to visit !:cool:

A tire swing wasn't possible when I was young. With 11 brothers it was just too dangerous and didn't last very long.

Sounds like when I was a kid and would get with my cousins. My Dad said he didn't worry about us until we got quiet!

For use it was Mother to panic. Dad had a job and the farm to care for. At least during the day.

We all wait with baited breath to hear of your vacation trip and time spent with Rick and hopefully chasing a few trains! Hope you had a great time!! We have missed you on this here forum, your wit and wisdom is always fun! Just remember, trains roll through a switch to change tracks, after the switchman throws it to the correct direction!

We didn't have a tire swing. We had a chain on a tree limb over the water from the creek. We built a little ramp along the edge of the shallow side. The other side was around 6-7 feet deep. While working on the garden we got hot. We would run and jump to that chain and swing out to the deep side and drop down into the deep. That would cool us better than cold drinks. I miss that chain...

Hi George, We just got home Monday from our annual Anniversary vacation to Ocean City, MD. Sadly there is not much rail action on the Delmarva peninsula and there is a complete lack of hobby shops in the OC area except one. Sadly his N scale stock was very limited. Otherwise we had great weather and a enjoyable trip.
