Welcome back and welcome to the gateway to the weekend. For those engaged within the workforce, AKA not retired, I hope you had a good short week. Let's see what our weekend holds for us.

Saturday: No modeling today as driving will be the highlight.

Sunday: If all goes to plan, I'll be relaxing a bit but nothing else planned for the weekend.

One last thing. Yesterday we lost a great woman, and I was saddened to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. To my friends in the UK and the Commonwealth, she was the Queen and to the Royal Family, she was a mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. May she rest in peace. My condolences to the Royal Family in this time of mourning.

So how about you, what do you have planned? Let us know. We'll reassemble again on Monday the 12th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Greetings all and happy Friday. This weekend will have some modeling time. Mostly this afternoon after I finish work obligations this AM and then Sunday. Saturday, we are going to the NC State - Charleston Southern football game. Noon kick-off so we'll go to the stadium early, set up the tent and have a tailgate brunch. My son and and grandson are gong with us. Admittedly, it is supposed to rain here tomorrow so don't know how long we'll stay after kick-off.

Modeling plans (at least as I am typing) include working on some buildings and bringing them along. I also want to get in the work shop to the "project cabinet". I have about 15 freight cars in various stages of completion (some in various stages of disarray). I want to pull a few out and bring them along. Kind of looks like a "mixed bag" weekend on the horizon.

Have a good and peaceful weekend all!!!

Happy Friday to Y'all, (Man -- that was a long short work week!!)

It is supposed to be kind of rainy fro the next few days. As the remnants of tropical typhoon/storm Kay will be passing by. This bit of rain is most welcome.

As for my modeling plans --- I will see how much of my VO-1000 project I can get done. I'll be adding some details and changing out the lame air tank and fuel tank.
    The starting point:

In checking out my Tunnel Motor fleet, I discovered one of them had contracted the dreaded zinc rot. I have acquired a donor and will attempt to repair the shell. Only the walkway is damaged. So, hopefully, I can make a reasonable repair.
Here is what I have to work with:

    Report on Monday.

    Y'all have a great weekend,

This weekend with good weather means more gardening. I need to trim the weeping spruce. There are bushes in the backyard that need trimming and shaping. And of course the never ending weeding needs to be done. Inside there is some heavy duty floor cleaning to do. Not sure what else will be brought up by management. Now that I have my car back I do need to find a carwash so I get the week's worth of dust and mud off of it.

I plan to enter some more new rolling stock into my inventory program. I also want to start tuning up the backlog of rolling stock sitting on the layout.I would like to run some trains while I am at it.

Among other projects, I am working on a technique to add underframe details to these Athearn/Roundhouse 36-ft boxcars. Just a bit of K-brake rigging and some turnbuckles. Some of these, I have redone grab irons, decaled, etc. (see example below), but have not worked this underframe modification.

I got 24 of the last 50 feet of old 1:1 fence demolished last weekend between thunder storms so I'm hoping to get some new posts set and more fence up this weekend - between the thunder storms. I'm also gearing up for a potential run next weekend to the N Scale Weekend in Altoona - I have informal invites to bring a couple of trains to let loos on other people's layouts. We shall see.

Wow, I've never seen photos of zinc rot and my gosh, I now see why it's not repairable and I never realized that the body shell could be ruined as well. Somehow in 50+ years in N Scale, I've not been victimized by it, but my day will likely come. You have such a beautiful locomotive fleet. Good luck with your donor repair.

Friday, I hope to paint a couple of cars and continue work on a feed mill kit for the club, then it is bowling time this evening.

Saturday, going to Toledo so my wife can help with her sister's garage sale and get rid of some stuff we don't need. If we get back at a decent hour I may get some decaling done.

Sunday, will be laundry and hope to finish up the feed mill kit, have spent a lot of time installing Cambell's corrugated siding material for the roofs. Also hope to finish up the decaling and then do some painting if I have time.

Again, busy we are! Also, good post re: HRH Eliz. II. A most accomplished woman. @Tim Holmes, I am building along in Rolling Line myself. VO-1000 quartet and...that loco looks "broketed"! Cool underframe work. (y) (Frisco rules!) Goona' to Altoona sounds like an old song... I got the '39 Olds completed and installed on the module. I brilliantly left my camera at my daughter's house in another town so no pics yet. I am gearing up for the two small house projects. Have a great and safe weekend! :D

More of the same from last week planned.

I need to finish up the new module frames, cut some more lumber for another set and cut a new side rail for the second set.

Also work on the new track plan continues. Not finished yet but getting there. Second deck plan is almost finished, needs tweaking. Third deck same. Added a couple elements that I like.

I’ll carve out some time to think about 9/11, the influence it has had on my life and the people I’ve known who were lost or wounded fighting in the wars since.

My oldest (11) caught COVID earlier this week so we’re restricted to base through end of next week. She and I were supposed to attend a Japanese baseball game on Sunday. She’s improved and feeling much much better.

On the train front-I’ve got some coalveyors that I added side extensions onto in order to make some C&D gondolas. First priority is to finish the graffiti, reflective stripes, and weathering on those. Next I’ve got a 3 coil cars, a trash flat, and 2 tank cars that I started last weekend but still need to finish.

A late start here this week for me. Just returned this afternoon from a 4 day camping trip. Some time this weekend will be spent cleaning and putting things away from that. When I do get out to the train room there are plenty of little things to work on so we'll see.

Wishes for speedy recovery for MetraMan's daughter, Japan seems to be getting the worst of it right now.

I'm trying to wrap up a Blair Lines used car lot and I got a Walthers Donut shop to start, but time will be limited. It's an Ntrak weekend, so setup today from 4pm till ? . And then we're short handed this weekend, so probably be on the layout from 9 to 5 saturday, and 10 to 4, plus 4 to 5:30 teardown on sunday.

Woo Hoo... I'm on a roll! This past Wednesday I glued 2 pieces onto the front wall of my Walthers Hardwood Furniture Co. kit. Today, I glued 2 pieces onto the rear wall.

    Hmm... that moves the
    scheduled completion
    date from June of 2029
    to October of 2028...
