The N Scale Barn & Outbuildings Laser Art Kit from Branchline Trains is a nice kit. You can use just about any ranch style house with it. .
Gold Rush Bay has at least two different barns that they digitally print that I really like. As for the farm house, I used the Bachmann pre-built farm house that I picked up at a train show for next to nothing...I just repainted it to get rid of the plastic shine.
This is a pretty good deal for both a house and barn in 1 kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/302007807799. They have the same barn by itself for $15 and then get another house more to your taste if the one there is not what you had in mind. https://www.ebay.com/itm/291125377229 I've purchased several laser cut wood structures from that seller and they are nice kits plus free shipping.
I just picked up this house on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265896008915?hash=item3de8a31cd3:g:I9UAAOSw4aRh~HEV I have not built it yet, but it looks just like in the pictures. Nice quality.
I'm using a house from this company | eBay and a Walthers barn, silo and windmill Walthers - Meadowhead Barn and Silo - Kit - 933-3892
The farm house I grew up in would be very easy. It was just the typical box with a high pitched roof. No windows on the roof.
I want one of those Sears houses and don't even need it. A few family members worked for them for 30 years or so. Plus, they just look cool!
These are pics of what I did with the American Models house on a now defunct small layout. The cornfield is across from the front door...
I think I bought one of the Sears houses also. Once I get back to rebuilding my town scene, I'll want a variety of houses. Like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265889048221 (Yes, I bought it. I hope I don't shoot my eye out.)
