We sometimes called the coupling a joint, like "back 10 cars to the joint." Could be a join, same, same really. Great image of a RR doing his job.
I am having issues with Youtube. I can't create a reguar video, only "shorts" that I can't embed in a post.
I like the "do not hammer on car" stenciled on the frame... judging by the dents in the sides, someone hammered it anyway!
16 November, the preserved F89F trailer flat sits in the outside yard at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
I normally do horizontal but in that particular video the vertical orientation worked better, there was nothing to see to the sides as the subject mater was framed by the narrow corridor. Now on this one, that was not an issue. A lot going on at the periphery towards the end of the clip.
First thing that came to my mind, is when they separated the train at speed in "Silver Streak". "Hello Chicago, I'll drink to that!!"
I guess when the video is in vertical format, Youtube makes a "short" out of it. I uploaded this one from my desktop and got the same results. I can't embed the video with the software here. https://youtube.com/shorts/JyjaMl2DaVg?feature=share
Trains and snow just go together in my mind. Every time I have to travel the highways or interstate in winter, I do wish for train service! It would be much less stressful!!
That clip brought back the memory of watching the Apollo moon rocket stages separating from inside the upper stage. Amazing how just the way the uncoupled car moved away triggered that recollection from 50+ years ago.
Here I am riding around the yard taking videos while the switching was going on. Was a chilly morning.
