Coming back to the module with narrow gauge. A friend from Germany drew attention into this link: This inspired me to try to replicate normal gauge cars transportation on narrow gauge. Using plastic profiles and adjustable chassis of T gauge I made narrow gauge transporter. I also made normal gauge car with scrap: It is not that "thin and flat" as a prototype but I think it is acceptable - especially on the module: The most important thing is that it is working...
Pawel, Thanks for the video. That is one cute little loco! Those cars that carry the full gauge cars are interesting. I also noticed no crossing gates. Your prototype is a nice start, but I think thinner will look better. Scott
I never thought of using T Gauge for Z Narrow Gauge, it worked out very well. How much would I like to have a narrow gauge shay logging line...
Yes he does, He sent me one of the rev 01 Brass version, but I have not done anything with it yet. It is a little too heavy for a T Gauge mechanism to run it, but I will explore that further down the road. First I have to get my NP Mikado's from Marklin Mikado's dialed in.
Rob, Maybe you can consider and check option to have "heavy" Shay unmotorized only with boogies from adjustable chassis and 2 ghost cars behind the loco ?
After a relatively long break in modelling activities and some experiances from Altenbeken I decided to increase operational possibilities of my modules by adding a new "big module". The size is 440mm x 500mm. It will be possible to have two trains on each loop instead of just one. Using the features of Rokuhan turnouts it is possible to have it with relatively low level of wirework: I plan to connect it to the end module with steam depot and to have some industrial buildings on it. Some years ago I bought very cheap assablied KIBRI models with very plastic look: After one evening of weathering effords it looks promising ...
Pawel, Good to have you back! I was wondering where all the good European modelers were. I agree with Rob, the weathering really improved the model. Day and night difference! Scott
I decided to have oportunity to run more trains. To achive this I prepared two extra 44mm x 50 mm modules for the mountain end of the system. I modified the concept to have an opportunity to run longer trains on inner loop. There are profiles at inner joint to create mountain landscape. Some time ago I got from a friend 3D printed station building inpieces. I think I will find a place for the building on one of modules. It is still "under construction:
There is still a lot to be done with those modules. Boring job with ballasting and rails painting at the beginning. The station colours are based on photos of the real station. Some details must be added - this is work in progress but should be finished soon. In the meantime I finished another 3D printed model from the friend - typical cube shape residential building (villa) of communism time in Poland (circa 1970-1980). Painting job was done, windows (3D printed frames) were added. I also made balcony barriers (laser cut carton).
I finished the model of the station - 3D printed with some details added. You can find some photos of prototype: https://www.bazakolejowa.pl/index.php?dzial=stacje&id=3322&ed=0&okno=galeria The model:
