Kind of a neat contrast in the above photo, with an ancient E-6 and a brand new Sears Tower.

Indeed! And both are iconic! Is there any update on #630? The last I heard, she had been repainted and made the move to Manly, IA (not under her own power, I presume). Any link to a site that gives current status on this locomotive and E8A #652 would be welcomed.

I have not heard anything but I have not been keeping up. Last I saw it in June of 2016, they were still painting it at the shop in Kansas City.

That's some pretty modern advertising, for back in the day!

I'll have to remember this photo when our house next needs a new roof. :) Surely the neighborhood architectural review board will not object.

In the 1930s when traveling from Chicago to Hot Springs to gamble, Al Capone the gangster and his entourage, typically rode aboard commuter coaches like this, giving the class its nickname. I found this example on a ranch south of Dallas near Ferris, Texas.

The golden nose on the 630 - after it faded out - has to be among the worst looking paint schemes in existence.

And here I thought the paint had just all fallen off on the nose.
