The people didn't know of the pollution at that time.

Apparently they still do not. When it is necessary to do so in escaping, that is one aspect. Every time there is flooding, here in the USA, I see pictures and video of people wading around in it, needlessly. Fools, all of them.

In Texas for the last 40 years or so, there is that added danger of "imported" fire ants. They float up out of their ground nests and form protective balls around the queen ant. If you have one of those brush up against you, they will swarm all over you.

Cool building! While the attendant fills up the old Model T, go inside the wedding chapel and get married for free if you buy more than 5 gallons...:D

That's a perfect gas station for a smaller layout!

    I agree.

I think I could take the one I did above and cut it up and use a lot of it to make that one although size wise I don't think there is a lot of difference but like the angled look of the one in the picture.

Another neat little gas station, Huntington, IN, 1938. Their "Clean Rest Rooms" must have been pretty small. Remember the change dispensers like the attendant is wearing?

Looks like you can still get them, but think I'll pass. That is a memory that I hadn't thought about for a long time,

You got a gallon of gas, gave him a buck, and he gave you .50 cents back!

I'm trying to recall, but I think C&NW Conductors wore them on commuter trains. I'd always buy my ticket at the station, but you could buy them on the train too (and pay a little more).

I have seen one of those in use about 5 years ago. At a rummage sale.
