Cool! Is that stark trees car custom weathered? I've got a clean version of that lol. One of my first MT purchases ever. I really like the one above too!
It looks like it was done by someone with a nice touch. I would actually be quite pleased to do one that well.
While I was away I got my shipping notice for the new Rapido ACF PD3500 FLEXI FLO Hoppers. One in Lafarge Cement (!) and one unlettered . . . wish I could remember what that one's for . . . .
I just need the bottom 2 cases, the DCC system is already taken care of by the NTrak club I belong too. Now I need to figure out where I can find them......
Just picked up at the local Home Depot! I figure the bottom unit for Passenger sets The middle unit for freight cars The top unit for locomotives. May need to add another small unit for locomotives after I do my test load of the storage units. Thanks Massey, never would have thought of these. Time to reduce the use of the carboard train boxes.
Another 98.3 and some cars for it to pull. The loco which is 23 years old is NOS and sold as not running so pristine condition but at a discount which I was going to use for parts. It turns out one of the idler gears was seized. Before I pulled out my pin press to extract the gear from the chassis I added a bit of oil first and forced rotation to see if that would help. It worked and moved loosey goosey as it should with just a few rotations. I'm going to add a decoder to run on the track as I can't bear to relegate it to parts anymore.
They run like Kato locomotives run, smooth and powerful, adding the sound and light packages makes them really cool. Time to give my remaining P-42's without decoders the same setups!
Newest buys- WVD adapter boards and ESU 58828 decoders for Kato F7A&B. Will put the speaker(s) in the B unit only. This time I will try to take pictures. Thinking about some interesting wiring ideas for MU hoses/power connections. I rewired an old Kato (Lemke) TGV with fine MU wires to feed power from the first coach trucks to the engine because they used those @$%#$ traction tires that caused me problems. Works great now.
I saw today that Yellow has declared bankruptcy and shut operations. I hadn't thought about it before seeing your post, but truck modelers likely share with railroad modelers a want to preserve the legacy of fallen LTL flags like Pacific Intermountain Express, Consolidated Freightways, Preston, Associated Transport, New England Motor Freight, McLean, Roadway (was part of Yellow) and many others.
Yikes, Roadway was everywhere back in the 90's. Hard to believe it completely gone (now that Yellow is done).
For sure, the motor carrier industry has gone through as many changes as the railroad industry it might seem. For no reason in particular, I cranked off a picture of a "cab over" out the back window of the family car in August 1975 in northern IL.
Latest purchase also has to do with trucks Royal Models 3d printed grain trailers and a bonus tractor
Per WSJ, the Teamsters' threat to strike caused too many customers to bolt, thus nailing the coffin shut on Yellow, who was struggling to pay off a $700M government pandemic loan. Guess who's gonna pay for the defaulted loan? A pox on all their houses!
