Hey all, New to the forum but not new to model trains. I've been in the hobby since I was a kid. Cut my teeth on HO but now on N scale for the space savings with long trains. Resident of the Big Apple, and doing a big thing in a small basement. My current layout is still in construction, but is not a "model" layout as it is not following any real world location. It's a proto layout with a fictitious livery set in an alternate future-present time line. The scene is set inside a toroidal space colony in orbit around Mars. I take a page from Steve Brown's book in that I'm probly breaking all kinds of rules and such but I'm using Marvel MCU logic to make it work LMAO. Layout is all diesel and modernish equipment for the most part though. Hope to be able to share and learn and be social as best as I can here. Waves to all and best regards, Aikagi
Welcome to TrainBoard Aikagi!!! Sounds like an interesting concept you have going there. Will be neat to see some pics.
Say what? WELCOME putting train rails on Mars makes perfect sense, less regolith kicked up the better, but ya prolly also gonna need a heavy lift Falcon 9 . . Spoiler: SPACE X Look Forward to Your Adventures!
Have fun with that. I will be using pictures of the Mars landscape as part of my 'Grandure Valley' backdrop. Maybe you could do that with 'windows' on the space station. What scale? Edit: Maybe you can do a 'Mag Lift' of some sort. Track for the powered car and magnets supporting the passenger cars.
@Grey One - I'm doing N scale. I still have to figure out the backdrop situation but the planet in the BG some where could be interesting. all depends on what things end up looking like and what I want focuses to be on. My layout is a little crazy in construction so the backdrop is not going to be a major scene breaker. As for the trains more futuristic stuff would be interesting but not looking to do THAT much custom work lol. it's just my excuse to put the trains I like in my own personal fantasy world=p. @MichaelClyde - oh yea a lot of those and big hauling space ships were used. Is that a pen or a model?
Welcome aboard, Aikagi! The rules of model railroading are: 1. It's your railroad, have fun! 2. When in doubt, refer to rule 1.
That pen is cooooooooooooool!! But a 163USD yeeesh! That's big desk, diamond ring, luxury car kinda money for a pen.
Welcome to TB! Are you familiar with Carendt Micro Layouts? If I remember, there was an article about an " Out of This World" layout idea. It's a concept Lunar Railroad. I believe it's in the "Different Locations" Topics. It might Help.
