Train Kept a Rollin' - I like the Aerosmith version, but my favorite is the version done by The Yardbirds with Jimmy Page. First heard it when I was a kid watching the movie "Blowup" from 1968. Think it was also known as "Stroll On".

"Will There Be Any Freight Trains in Heaven?" (Hobo's Meditation) by Merle Haggard. Actually that is from "Same Train, A different Time" album and is a Jimmy Rodgers song.

    I found the chorus:

Will there be any freight trains in heaven
Any boxcars in which we might hide
Will there be any tough cops and brakemen
Will they tell us we cannot ride
Will the hobo chum with the rich man
Will we always have money to spare
Will they have respect for a hobo
In the land that lies hidden up there

    Rod McKuen's version of:
    "Doesn't Anybody Know My Name"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfKJOesKuiw
Synopsis: Vet returns from war ...
This has also been done by Waylen Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. and Johny Cash, (I'm sure there are others).

Rod McKuen was the first person I ever saw in concert. I ended up with the album.

    Hank Williams Jr version:

    Waylen's:

Look around on youtube for more.

    I have several favorites:

    Ozzy's "Crazy Train"

    Steve Earle, "Texas Eagle"
Scott Miller and the Commonwealth, "Amtrak Crescent"
    Robert Earl Keen, "Train Trek"
Merle Haggard, "No More Trains to Ride" and "Freedom Train"

And of course, anytime KHYI-FM in Plano, Texas plays a Mandatory Train Tune when a KCS freight rolls by their studios, and I catch it on their Internet stream.

The Gerry Mulligan tune is from an album called Age Of Steam which features a picture of Gerry in front of the Locomotive.

I just found this digging around Youtube. This song is pretty darn good and the train blowing for the crossing in the background was good timing.
