Grey One, You want to build this from model rocket parts? I'm very curious to see this build! What mechanism will power it?
Inspiration for Design: I'm with you. Though as for track vibrations - I do live 40 feet from the northeast passenger / commuter rail corridor out of Boston. Steve A - Even at 52 I don't need those things so it took a while to realize what you were refering to. Guys, you will _never_ believe this, (in light of the Pink Fox logo), but in all honesty it took that shape because that was the best I could do using MS Paint. Only after someone at the office made a comment did I notice certain similarities to marital aids. Hemi-"Peace Maker ICBM"s. Remember - Sometimes a train is only a train. Ok guys - now each of you have to post something _on_ topic.
Have you started to acquire parts to build this? I am curious how the build goes.... How do you plan on powering it? This is a scratchbuild, in every sense of the term.
Imagineer at Work I just started dreaming this thing up yesterday so right now it is seat of the pants. Curretnly I am "imagineering" it. My thought is 1/2 model rocket tubes over some very very old Bachman Metro liner chassies. Failing that I will get passenger wheel sets from MT. My intent is to use drawbars for couplinig. I'm sure I can find "plugs" for the vestibules. For power? maybe a Kato critter chasie. Maybe? hmm, maybe? um, ...don't know Freight car version now on the drawing boards.
WOW ! A lot of nice Freelanced models in this thread......Very Kool! Here's some stuff I've messed around with; The SD-40 scheme is reflective of the KCS' 35% ownerhip in ALGF. The ALGF provides access to East coast ports in Florida and in mobile for the KCS's Intermodal services. Alabama Gulf Paper service boxcar QuickSilver Optima Roadrailer I make Intermodal models with Freelance decals. Here's some Great Lakes Eastern models. (I collect decals and make the models, production space is open, if you like to donate some decals....... ] Steven
if I were you ... I'd start with any of the Japan Railway bullet trains (or even some of the commuter trains) as your base ... most of them are pretty futuristic as it is ... and KATO et al do a good job with the mechanisms some good places to start: http://stores.ebay.com/Plaza-Japan http://stores.ebay.com/Plaza-Japan_Shinkansen-Bullet-Train_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ12QQftidZ2QQtZkm http://stores.ebay.com/Samurai-Express
Thanks GW, I'll look into them though my main online pusher, er, I mean etailer vendor can usualy hook me up. The goal will be to make these CEQ: Cheap Easy Quick The intended cross section will be round or close to it.

Steve: Your signature is much too wide and should conform to the width of signatures on TB posts. Stay cool and run steam steam.....
Bob - where are the specifications for signatures? Mine is only 506 pixels wide. Trainboard is set to 640. I was referring to the width of the picture. Some may find it difficult to look at.
I was referring to your latest graphics in your last post. Could you reduce it in size so others with slower speed computer connections can view the post more easily. Thanks... Stay cool and run steam....
The way my monitor looks this morning, they almost look like Milwaukee Road units. Nice work, your starting to convince me to get a few of these kits. Jim
