I wouldn't count those last ones as Alcos personally, since they have Cat engines, but they're still cool.

Good post. Thanks! If I recall correctly, the "GN" RS1 is an ex-M&ST.L unit?

I've SHOT this one! You were at the Nekoosa Papers (now Georgia-Pacific)plant south of Ashdown- this mill is served by both KCS and the Kiamichi RR (via trackage rights on KCS). Sadly, this ol' girl is no longer there.

Here's my shot, virtually the same place:

    Gotta admit it's a nice-looking engine......... :D :D

Got this one, too- I have kids from a previous marriage that live south of there in the little town of Mansfield, and whenever I'd go to visit them, I'd swing thru both Ft. Smith and heavener to catch RR action.

This critter is an RS3 re-engined with an EMD prime mover- IIRC, it was done at the Dewitt Shops in Syracuse, NY, and is called a Dewitt Geep. It's no longer there- Pioneer Rail has replaced all the older FSR power with ex-ATSF GP20s.

Personally, I prefer this one over the GP20s....... ;)

    Big Alco Centuries

The Century 636 after teh Alco PA is a most impressive looking locomotive. Just wish their dependability would have matched their powerful looks. Some of the Alco C-636's on the BN I have on Trainpix

All I see in this thread is a bunch of sissy little girl locomotives.
    You need a man's Alco!
