All my units need a lot of work done to them to make them look "professional". My SD40-2B is a modified Athearn unit I picked up at the train show and my SD40-2 is a Kato HO Unit. Since all my stuff is second hand, it's missing a lot of parts. I'll be working on them locomotive group by group.

Another updated list, new additions as of October 31st. Edit: added one more November 6th... Edit: added another December 18th - Atlas Train Master... Yesterday, at the Montreal Railroad Modelers Association's biannual open house (holy bleep, their layout is big!), I got my first taste of brass - an RS-1 and an H12-44. The F-M unit is already painted, but the RS-1 is on the bare brass. There's no indication as to the manufacturer, but the innards on both are identical. They both run rather well, a little rough, about as noisy as some of my Athearns but not quite as much racket as the AHM RS-2. I lubed up both of them and ran them for a couple of hours, which made them somewhat quieter. But they're both very good-looking locos, and I am eager to start painting and detailing the RS-1. Just as a side note, the F-M switcher makes my EMD switchers look like toys. One has no idea how big those F-M units were unless there's a switcher from one of the other builders next to it. It's a bit like those photos where there's a 4-4-0 from the 1880s parked next to a 2-10-10-2... In August, I picked up an Intermountain FP9 and a Model Power FA1 dummy. The FP9 made me change my mind about turning the cheap Bachmann F9 into an ersatz FP9, and now it will become EMD experimental demonstrator 462, the first EMD alternator-rectifier drive.
