Lately I have taken an interest in GP7's and 9's and you may have seen some of the custom paint topics I have completed in recent months. This week I received a MKT GP7 I purchased on Ebay so I thought I'd start a thread on GP7/9's for people to post pics. Here are mine Lets get this thread moving with lots of images.
I did this one about 8 years ago, I've since improved my skills and working on other projects before retackling more Western Maryland GP-7's and GP-9's
2734 is pretty much the backbone of my local freight operations, and NW2 or no NW2, still gets most of the switching. Started off as a basic Atlas Classic, repainted and Micro-scale Decals, with wire handrails, additional details, Richmond Controls constant lighting, and a weathering job right off of the McMillan calendars:

Here's some contributions from me. Great topic, Colonel, and great photos of your Geeps to start us off with.
It sure is! I thought Colonel had a fleet of GP7/9s, but some of you guys...! Great details, sizemore. Nice footsteps, for sure. Here are some of mine I painted many months ago. How did that MoPac caboose get in there? Low nose GP9:
Here is a Bay Colony GP9. This was completed 2 days before Atlas anounced the exact same unit. Atlas shell on a LL GP18/20 chassis. Mass Central "GP38-1". Many MILW fans can identify this unit. I actually made two. This is a 1993-2001 version. I made a 2002+ version for a friend. Atlas shell on a LL GP18/20 chassis. The engine is on the cover of this month's N-Scale. Here is a Guilford GP7. These were mostly gone by 1998, but a few (including this one) soldiered on. Atlas shell on a LL chassis.
The Atlas shell fits the LL mechinism perfectly. The fueltank is cast from a 2nd generation (split frame) GP18. The "Freinken-Geep" assembily line: In the end, I produced 8 engines from the LL fire sale. The total cost was somthing like $120.
Some of the early Atlas GP7s. The one on the left has a retro-frame to make the truck spacing look better.
I got this one that is out of place on my layout but I could not resist the paint job. But this is dead on for my area. All of the models are on LL GP20 chassis since the old Atlas frame was hard to convert to DCC. The NCR #3190 has a special place in my collection since it was the first model with BLMA and other detail parts.
