Thanks Mike. I am still looking forward to the Athearn ones. I really hope they do the Kodachrome paint job.
And there is a natural spring above the tunnel. In several places water falls through holes in the lining in nearly constant streams. The summit is about 1/3 of the way inside from the west(Christie) end of the tunnel.(IIRC) One real cool thing about the longer tunnels.. You can go out front and keep your hat on, or light a cigarette, it's that calm.
Joe, looking at my 1976 track chart, it looks like going east, (From Christie), the grade is 0.20 to the summit, then, drops off at 0.80 to Glen Frazer. It's those undulations you talked about earlier!
Any suggestions on what type of paint to use on the partical board? Would spray paint work, or do I need to get something like Kilts or an oil based paint and brush on? Thanks in advance!
Steve, that is an Overland Brass Import they did a few years ago. JnJ has some of the SD45B shells. Brass and JnJ are about the only ones I have seen, unless you kitbash, like you said. The B units are pretty cool!
I'd just use a latex house paint or kilz primer should be fine. If you don't want it to warp then paint BOTH sides! Steve F
Jerry - any place track "might" be laid on my layout was first painted with HOME DEPOT'S favorite paint- BEHER's and the color was as close to earth brown as I could get - pretty close it was. I globbed on a nice thick coat and waited for it to dry COMPLETELY. That paint is like a barrier coat for moisture. Toots
Thanks John! In this 90 degree weather right now, completely dry will be in about 15 mins!! LOL Thats a heck of a savings Mike! My favorite kind of shopping! Looks like I will be heading to the hardware store tonight, if I can talk the Mrs's into it. I'll bet a nice dinner out will convince her.
I'm a big fan of the mismatched paint rack at Home Depot!! I stop by everytime I'm in to see if there's anything I can use. Jerry - Looking outstanding as always! And I second the comments on the cowl unit. Whetting my appetite for the Athearn release!
Well I just got back from dinner, and Lowes. One gallon of someones off brown paint they didn't like for $5.00! I think it looks just like dirt. LOL $5.00 well spent. OK, dinner was slightly more, but worth it.
This weekend my buddy Dan Rebich came over and shot this short video of the U50 pulling an empty Sugar Beet train through Pinole. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq4zl4J-UsQ"]YouTube - N Scale Pinole[/ame]
