Best is always to change server. Should it be GB or traffic issue, 150$ ist too much compared with prices in Germany. And if they cut off for such reason, they are a..h...s. Anyway you can let drive your forum by every provider on the world, States, Europe, Asia, not important anymore.
Hope Jim or Brad let's us know whatz happening- I'd be acceptable to donating to keep ZCentral on line. I find it an excellent source for Z information. I'll delete most of my pictures- especially those that are not "the best". But Jurg's, Torja's, Jim's, John's, Tim's and other's -- pictures should stay as they show the BEST OF Z craftsmanship. Let's not have a wholesale cut in the foto section as another z site did and lost a lot of followers. Fred
No joy for me for a couple of days either from home or work and the two use different platforms, etc. John
Yes, ZCS is up and working again. At this time behind the scenes issues with the site host will have to remain under wraps. We're back in business for now. Cheers, Jim CCRR
Fred, I think it was more than just cutting pictures that caused an exodus from Z yahoo. Folks became unhappy with some of the tight controls and heavy handed measures. There was no thinking "outside the box" in some respects. No warm fuzzy feelings........ Loren
My opinion with the old moderators of Yahoo was that they forgot why we are in this hobby. They thought it was a previledge to use their forum, but I have no problems with the current group of modearators.
I saw this thread so I checked over there. It loads up for me but doesn't let you see/read anything unless you sign in from my end. Used to be you could read a quick thread or check out a few pictures without signing in. No matter glad to see that site is up as all Z sites are helpful and fun to browse.
Joe, Seasoned ZCS members know to NEVER sign out. This solves many issues. Sometimes, like Yahoo we are asked to re-enter our passwords and many don't remember among other things. By never signing out we older members don't have to use our brains as much. Cheers, Jim CCRR
I know what you mean Jim, I have a card with all passwords written down. I keep it safegaurded. Only problem is it is a hassel to sometimes retreive it!
I can get to the site now and login in, and I can read the forums. But, my gallery is gone and when I go to the gallery list, it only shows one - Fred's. Hope this is a temporary glitch. John
John, I just checked. There does seem to be a clitch. This time try clicling on Album List instead of My Albums. You should find it in this list. Cheer, Jim CCRR
Jim, concerning Zcentral, my opinion is that its now just a shadow of what it was before. In general I dont like closed forums, it was one main reason why I was not happy with ZFE. I think that the photos, largerly oversized by 5MB, is at the origin of the problems. Average forum has a limit about 200k, what is enough for good visual pictures, 1024 pixel large or high are possible, if there is accurate shrinking by paint software. So till now Zcentral was allowing 5000/200 = 25 times more than other, this is hudge. But there are a lot of solutions, even with this confort. There are enough cheap foto server around, and cheaper server anyway, for me the stunning personality of Zcentral is away.
I miss Zcentral also, but at least we have Trainboard. We can get our fix right here until Brad gets it up and running again.
Still 'forbidden..........' Irfan View has a the possibility to batch convert (shrink) a series of images. Regards, Frank
