Not sure but the Cattle Car is regularly cleaned up. Some threads may have been deleted there. Charlie
I'll go through the logs and check it out. If there is a thread you posted in that seems to be missing let me know. Charlie
I lost about 4K.. From about 15,100 to 11,209 overnight... And I don't hardly ever go into the cattle car....
It's not The Cattle Car. All looks normal there. I don't see anything obvious elsewhere. My post count dropped nearly 5K overnight. Boxcab E50
After investigating, I think I can explain it. A utility can be run on the MySQL database at any interval desired that will "correct"all user post counts. This is not run very often, but it was run early this morning. So, many user's post counts have probably changed due to this and they should be accurate now. I don't believe that anything has been deleted. Charlie
Here's what I think happened guys. Uploading a photo to RailImages counts as a post. That's an option and we decided to use it so if you upload a photo to RI, it adds a click. When the utility within vBulletin runs that re-counts the posts it counts only forum posts and not RailImages uploads. This may be inevitable until such time as a software upgrade makes this totally compatible. The utilities within vBullletin must be run from time to time to clean up the database that stores all of this information. I think when it ran, it stripped everyones RailImages photos from their post counts. In other words, if you have 100 photos on RailImages, your count decreased by 100. Sorry but I don't know what can be done about it until software vendors address it. I will check into this further though in case their is a solution. Charlie
I am not a heavy poster, but I went from almost 1,000 down to 170.................(edit)now back to 789............that would correspond to the difference from the railimages posts.......
Well, I'm pretty sure i didnt post 480 images on my PailImages, dont think i ever had more than a dozen at a time. I took my old pictures off a while ago in the process of redoing everything, only to get sidetracked.
I can explain that too I think. I've been investigating this for the last hour.... When we imported from the old software that drove TrainBoard, post counts were inherited from that software. On that software, when posts were deleted (as sometimes happens during cleanup) that post count did not ever drop. It added one on each post and never subtracted. This software does not do that. When a post is deleted, the count drops appropriately. Apparently, the cleanup utility that is responsible for this had never been run in the about 14 months since we changed the software from UBB to vBullletin. Sorry folks. I know people like big numbers, but everyones number should now reflect the post count they have on the forum. It's not the number of posts you have but the fact that you are here that counts. Charlie
Well, as a relative newcomer this was easy to check. As I mentioned earlier my post count dropped to 49 from around 68. So with a little math, add 49 + 20 RI images and that would account for the 68 or so that I had as of yesterday.
I'm down a couple hundred...equal to my pic count, I think. So what you're saying, Charlie, is we get to celebrate our B I G,mg:mg:mg: mileposts again!! WOOHOO!
Regarding the info about joint date, location, age, and # of posts in the upper right corner of each post: is it possible to add a line that shows # of pics in RI, or is that a change that would get lost with each new software update?
Just checking You know this makes those big guys on top closer to us little counters on the bottom.:shade:
