Ok, I've always been proud of my eyesight - 20/15 all my life. And detail work has never been a problem at all...until tonight. I noticed tonight that my up close vision is blurry -- and all of a sudden, like last week it wasn't like this!!! So I gotta ask all you mid-40 & up guys...is this how it happens? Do I need to get bifocals now? Am I officially middle age ?????
I don't think that's just middle age... go see a doctor, that's a quick change. I'm 16, and my vision's more like 20/50-20/60. Or maybe I know nothing.
Seriously, I hope it's nothing serious. I have worn glasses since first grade. I can't see far away, but I can see great up-close.
Ive had the dreaed bfocals for a few years now. A new badge of honor and maturity. Youre about the right age. Go see the eye doc and see what he says. Just another challenge to overcome. Good luck.
Welcome to the club. Just another milepost. It happened to me about 6 years ago right when I took up N-scale, and yeah it was quick. Also, I'm a firm believer in having your eyes checked regularly!
Wait until you hit 65......like a roller coaster to the end of the earth.....20/20...40/40......coke bottles
hang in there matthew. at, between 41 and 45 the warranty on everything runs out. plus you don't know just how blind you are until you get that first pair w/bi-focals.lol. its then that you wonder how you found the bathroom this morning. but wait... thats another topic....
For me it has a lot to do with eye strain, stress and sleep. Some nights everything is fine, others I get a headache just trying to focus. Usually a good nights sleep fixes it. Also a day spent working on the computer too long means not a good night to work on detail projects.
Presbyoptia--old eyes--commonly occurs in the young 40s. And it happens quick. Get them checked out, in case something else is causing it. Otherwise, join the club! It happened to me virtually overnight.
Yeah, it happened to me a little later than most, at around 50, but I swear one day I read the front page of the newspaper just fine and by the time I got to the comics I needed glasses.
It's not that my eyes are bad, my arms are just too short. From about 3 feet out everything is fine. But for up close work, reading, computer, etc, I have to use those drugstore reading glasses. no bifocals, just the smaller lenses, and I look over the top for anything farther away. It started in my 40's. I did't really notice it at first because one eye started to go but the other was still strong enough that I could read without problems. But then they both decided on no close up work. Surprisingly how fast I got accustomed to carrying around a pair of glasses in my pocket. Regards Ed
I hit this at about age 43. If you are like me, you might find that brighter light helps you to see things close-up. I don't know if this makes any sense or not, but I find that I now need better light (brighter) to be able to read things in that transitional range between far enough away, and almost far enough away.
Come on over. I have a laser, and after I work on your eyes you'll never have a problem with vision again... mg:
Have it checked out, but,, That's exactly how it happened to me - all of a sudden I noticed small stuff and reading was blurry... Very easily fixed! I have since gone to Bifocals and would not go back... Lou
Geting old stinks Threfore I haved decided to stop where I am at. From this point forward I will never age older than 35 years
Get checked for Glaucoma too, I have it in my Left eye, and starting in the right. I noticed I could not read the Weather alert running across the bottom of the TV screen because it was blurred. I got a pair of those Dime Store glasses that helped a lot. Later, the Dr told me I almost blinded myself using them. The real prescription glasses he made for me make it all clear as new paint now. Don't delay! My super detailing days are over now, that is why I retired from making any more brass engines.
