Hi Kurt, They really do look good... I'm was actually pretty excitied to see the undecorated shells, a group of them would make for a great smooth side boneyard! On the roadnames, you'd have to check with Rob over at Ztrack Center on that... John Ztrains: Z Scale (1:220) Model Train Layouts
2008 starting out with big bang already Golly gee willikins, 2008 is exploding all over the place, as far as new z is concerned. i am not a passenger train guy. But I can feel your joy anyway. Congrads, looks like a z scale breakthrough. I might join the program when MTL releases the E-9 and E-8. When that happens, a whole lot of folks will be convinced. Meantime, you guys enjoy, enjoy.
OK Rob Ray, how many do we need to RUN on the BAZ BoyZ modules? With the undec shells available, I feel many a kit bash coming. And WORKING diapharams !!! I'll order a bunch for the AZLs !!!
MTL passenger cars Wasn't MTL making passenger cars to go with the E8s? I asked Greg about them at the Sacramento show and all he alluded to were passenger cars in N. BTW, I had a really nice time chatting with Greg (and Ben) at MTL and made sure to tell him how appreciative we were for MTL making Z. Any questions and further probing was met with a 'Ask Joe,tell him Greg sent you'.
Ajay, Yes we are...4 to start, 8 total. Sorry I didn't make Sacramento, I switched with Ben when he realized he would be missing his Anniversary this weekend. I'm sure Greg will be bending my ear tomorrow ) Joe MTL
Joe, Marsilius really surprised us with these cars. I have heard they partnered with Bowser on producing them. They are neither styrene nor brass, but true injection molding. I have samples being sent to me so I can take more detailed photos. I believe these are photos of the preproduction cars. The cars have some wonderful detailing that the images don't show. Marsilius is planning pad printed decorated versions of these cars. We will have these on our site as soon as we are given the okay to take orders. So is 2008 the year of the passenger car? First Marsilius, coming up next AZL with their brass and MTL later this year. Very exciting times! Rob
Rob, Do these have inset windows? Also are these easy to retrofit interior lighting into? Those diaphragms sure look nice! Thanks, Ajay
Ajay, I am waiting on samples to confirm, but the it does appear the window are inset. I suspect that lighting will be fairly easy to do. The key though will be metal wheel sets. The cars come with MTL plastic wheels. Marsilius is looking to replace these with metal wheel-sets in the future. Rob
