Reunion at Azalea Curve Last weekend, Russell shared with us his fine shot of his nicely modified older Rapido Pacific. Boy, did that bring back memories. In my case, nothing fanciy - oil Vandies, headlights, crude number frames. I remember painting Ol' Nol 1 with a $1.59 atomizer - blowing through the straw to suck and blow Floquil (I've been light-headed ever since). You could field-strip, clean, lube and reassemble an Atlas Pacific with your eyes closed while listening to the BeeGees. I decided to get out the plastic old-timers for a Weekend Photo Fun reunion. They all run well (even over Peco plastic frogs), and the two ConCor/Kato Hudsons (we call 'em Willamettes in these parts) are still my all-time best runners. The location is Azalea Curve, between Cantara and Mt. Shasta City on the Espee (you won't hear me say those yellow words). Confession time: I admit to photo editing shadows and some colors in these 4 shots. I've found that editing indoors is a lot easier than hauling the layout outdoors for background and light. The background, here, is mural painted on vinyl flooring. The steam and smoke, of course, are my home-made exhaust units (well-paid Leprechauns on the footplates - smoke is clean, because they fire so well). Welcome to the Siskiyou Southern Railroad! Scott SS 4 and 5 double-head the eastbound #5 Luckiamute towards Mt. Shasta City. SS 3 and 1, and Mart Prather takes a break from his monthly business trip. Well I've been away from the hobby for a few months going through one of those breaks I guess. Here is a shot of a CN train with mixed freight passing through, you don't see many of these on my layout that often.

My friend Doyle Bond dismantled his N scale layout and gave me his detail parts, buildings, people, etc. I have about three boxes of these parts, so I am slowly going through them and sometimes being amazed. Here are two buildings that are scratch built all from styrene. I like this building as it is trailer shaped and is unique for that. If I make a building, I make it generally square or rectangle. I think Doyle must have had a picture. It appears to be all corrugated metal with Grandt Line windows and doors. This building is about four scale feet square. (1 cm x 1 cm)
