Pete - the glue is drying on the first "frame" now. If all goes well I'll have it up by mid morning and be able to catch the afternoon sun. I think it will be perfect for dining room viewing. Wine bottles filled with water being used to weigh down the "frame". Ya, dating is one of those compromises / sacrifices I make. I would trade all of my trains for the right woman to share life with.
Wine bottles are good weights whether filled with wine or water. I believe that wine is very slightly denser/lighter than water--oh, where has my chemistry gone? I'm glad that I haven't had to date in 28 years!

It didn't work: The original plan had been to mount the backdrops on 1/2 thick foam. While I was getting things ready I wondered what would happen if I just mounted it on 4" wide strips as seen above and the previous pics with wine bottles. When I tried to mount it on the wall the backdrop curved too much and pulled away from the foam. I do not consider this to be a "Stupid Mistake" as I was just experimenting and not really expecting it to work. 2nd try: This time the backdrop was mounted on a 1 inch thick sheet of foam. It will probably be dry in time for date 3 tomorrow.
A little fun with micro LED's. HO Miss Betties Diner A lot more to go on the Miss Betties but the lighting test worked out great. Still need to get customers, a cook and finish the windows and trim work. Not shown in the picture is the checkerboard tile floors and the chrome counter top and cook area. Also, the interior lighting is a Kato N passenger car lighting kit.
Mount Nolan: Oooops: Hmmm, Suggestions? The "Tacky Glue" from AC Moore is not holding styrene to foam. Milly, (my first love and now my best friend), has suggested double sided mounting tape.
A few structures this week on the BearCattRR in the final stages. the first one is the TOFC ramp from Scale Models Division and the saloon is from Bar Mills. NO paint was used on either item. This was a test for me using the Prismacolor markers. With the alcohol it evaporates quickly eliminating warp. This was a technique used in one of the clinics at the NScale Convention in San Diego a few years back. Easy to travel with and has a broad and fine tip on it. The only downside is you are not able to do the peeled paint look (All disclaimers apply).
On the positive side, I started my GP40P-2 (sorry about the bad photo, lighting issues) and this arrived..woohoo! On the other side, I spent all today painting up a boxcar in my new scheme for my freelanced road, only for the paint to suffer a reaction at the 11th hour. I spent the 12th hour stripping it, and breaking the steps, maybe I'll be luckier next time.
Passengers on the afternoon bullet trains are rewarded with a brief glimps of Mt Milly: Here the same two are can barely make out Mt Vivien softly enshrouded in a distant curtain: Mt Nolan, Milly, and Vivien (farthest to closest).
