Hello there ,Geoff here in the UK, I started out in the very same way in the late 80,s Big hauler , that did not work when i got it home , so went out and bought a NW2switcher and things grew from there,like you i now have 18 loco,s and to much stock for my small garden, who cares-maybe the wife!
Geoff, welcome aboard. I'm always glad to see more G scalers join train board. I would luv to see your stuff if you have any pictures. It's also nice to see someone over seas who likes American trains, usually you see mainly LGB from your neck of the woods since how LGB had a big part of the European market. The NW-2 was USA trains first locomotive and they did do a good job at it.
You will love some of the new updated rolling stock releases from Aristocraft. Their attention to detail to the prototypes, and while not always similiar, come pretty close. The few pieces of Aristo Rolling Stock I have have never failed me. Although why my tank car has derailment issues if not behind the coal hopper is beyond me. Underneath the Boxcar/Stock car are 6 long screws, good for dismantling if you need a quick flat car for a camera~ Becarful of the spring loaded door handle on the boxcar. It's fragile and finicky if you try to open the door. I haven't lost my spring, but one of the plastic tabs did break. Another thing to look out for is the sprung trucks. The plastic piece the springs hold on to is a seperate piece that isn't mounted on the trucks. I lost one on my Northern Pacific 40foot boxcar. Also be aware the springs in the Aristocraft Loop and Hook couplers are the same springs your trucks use. So if you lose a spring, just take the spring off the coupler and carefully reattach it to the truck. I reccoment using a small flat head screwdriver to help hold the spring down.
EMD Trainmans G scale section reaches 7,000 views I would like to take the time out to thank all of those who read this thread and my section. I never thought I would reach this many views. I try to keep things different and touch on different subjects when it comes to G scale trains. Model trains no matter what scale, sure is fun and relaxing. I will still keep up on this thread as new subjects and problems develop with ways to solve them. I would love to see more G scale people come to this board, although I know Garden Railroad Magazine is a huge competitor to this board in respect to G scale anyway. I thank you all for the support and hope to see more people in the future.
DragonFyreGT DragonFyreGT, thanks, I take pride in working hard to make my butterfly garden look good. It's alot of work since you have to constantly trim off the dead flowers on the bushes so new ones will grow. Then the prep work for the flowers and herbs, fertilizing, rototilling, ect. I do grow tomatoes and cucmbers for myself, thank godness I did with that tomatoe shortage due to salmonila getting into them last year.
My station set was a 3 piece set from Piko. I paid 100 used. Normally it's 200+. Welcome to G-Scale Buildings. A Few tips: Buy Used and if you can repair it yourself. I was lucky to get the manuals to repair. Check Ebay. You may end up in a few bid wars, but that's common. Also check venders at Train shows. That's how I found mine. I was broke the month they had it and they said they'd hold it for me in Madison the next month. Finally, if you're handy, Build your own from plans. I don't have anything else I know that will help with that.
I roster my equipment in Wordpad. My system works like this: Road Name Rolling Stock Type (Color Marks) Road Number I don't really catagorize much by car type or road name of whatever. I just stick them in like their part of a really long freight consists. I have a second section setup like a track order: Track 1 Westbound or Eastbound (in my roadname's case) Road Name Locomotive Model Road Number Road Name Rolling Stock Type (Color Markings) Road Number I further more breakdown by having Staging track listings: Staging Track 5 West Bound or East Bound Road Name Locomotive Model Road Number Road Name Rolling stock Type (Color Markings) Road Number I know people use fancier systems but to me it's easier to just do it that way. I added color markings in because of the similarity of some road numbers like 46006 64006 64004, etc. Makes it easier on me since my roster is stuff I still need to get. I don't really keep track of the money spent on it. But Now I have to check out this software that you're using.
DragonFyreGT when you own 18 locomotives and now 92 rail cars, the note pad just won't cut it. It's ok for those who run small layouts. I need to have sub catagories and there is a spot for the road number which is importatnt due to USA makes multi road numbered train cars now. So if I find one, I'll know which one it is whe I go to look for the other.

Need USA woodside box car info help one more time Hi Solase or anyone else, I have placed a bid on a Charles Ro / USA Trains Rio Grande woodside box car on ebay, but the person does not have the original box. Although there is no box, I still placed a bid on it because it is in good condition and I really need this one for my collection also. Can anyone give me a stock number for this, much appreciation in advance.
I could be wrong but this is what an internet retailer turned up on that boxcar and it's roadnumber "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica](box number says 3240)[/FONT]" I don't know if that helps but it might a stepping stone in the right direction.

Solase, thank you very much I appreciate the information you have given me on these Charles Ro woodside freight car products. The oldest Charles Ro / USA Trains catalog I have is 1997. I have been looking for older ones to buy, but on ebay I have never seen anything older than 1997 for sale. I'm glad someone like you is here on train board, maybe one day you could make a book on Charles Ro trains with pictures and descriptions, sorta like a collectors book. Much like the Lionel Ives collector book, I would be the first to buy one, especially with the amount of information you provided and USA Trains never kept track or records of the information you have.
EMD Trainmans G scale section hits 8,000 views I would like to take the time out to thank everyone who has read my threads and posts made on EMD Trainmans G scale section. I never thought this section would see 8,000 views, I thank those also for sharing views and information. DragonFyreGT and Solase have been also great on G scale making the G scale section worth while. Without people like them who regularly interacts with the G scale section, all of the hard work of me helping to make a change to the G scale section would be wasted. This might not be Garden Railroad online or Large Scale On Line, but I think we have a better character on train board. I also would like to thank E-8 for allowing the wonderful change and look of the G scale section from 1:22.5 heading to Gauge #1 heading to include everyone for every scale ratio for G scale. I would also like to see some F scale or narrow gauge stuff from peoples garden railroads since how that also runs on Gauge #1 track. You have to repect those Accuraft trains, they are nice, especialy the 1:20.3 scale ratio.
L&B is like that at the Great Midwest Train Show, everytime they do an estate purchase, there is always something in BN waiting for me. "Hey look what we got this time!" Well it's been a tad slow lately, but that's alright. Hoping they find my tender for around 100 sometime this Century heh.
And that's why when I closed my capitol One account after paying my final bill, and the guy on customer support said "May I ask why you are choosing to leave us?" I simply responded with "Because I'm tired of you deliberatly posting my payments late forcing me to pay interest. Stick It." and hung up.
