Very nice, Russell. Nice composition, and the lighting is excellent! Here is mine. N&W Y6b is being readied for road work by its crew.
These hoppers were in a 2 pack and were supposed to have different numbers. I guess somebody didn't get the message.
Have to admit that I am jealous... you all have layouts to take pictures of... mines in the planning stage. Pics look good. Cheers
Dr. J., thank-you. The camera was about 14" away from the engine's nose, the coal tower about 6" behind the engine with two tracks between them, and the closest part of the backdrop, on the left, would be about 18" behind the tower on the same level. At that angle, though, it is more like 24". At the right hand extreme of the image, the distance from the camera would be in the 6' range. Here is an image that will give you a better idea. The camera was on a 3/4" X 3" piece of scrap spruce for a bit of elevation, and to reduce the expanse of ground foam out of focus close-up. It was essentially right at the edge of the operating pit, more or less even with the tiny shack and the engine's nose. -Crandell
