    Caleb,

Do you have some photos you can post of what the overall layout looks like now? I know you've made numerous modifications to it so I'd love to see what it looks like "big picture wise" now.

    Keep up the fantastic work!!

I meant to say "Looking good Caleb" but since I messed up, YES someone can say "Looking Caleb" meaning that the level of work is as good as Caleb's. Unfortunately my scenes will not be called "Looking Caleb" [IMG]. He has set the bar way too HIGH.

I have learned so much from this young man. Thanks Caleb.

And it is Looking good Caleb:thumbs_up::thumbs_up::thumbs_up:.

    Awesome!

    Hello Caleb,

I just read the full thread, not sure how I managed to miss it until now.

Your work is simply outstanding and you are a master at photography. Looking at your pictures makes me want to run to my layout room and get some scenery done!

I also admire your willingness to go back and change completed scenes! Every time the first attempt was awesome, but the new and improved version is even better.

Thanks for taking the time to share your insparational work with us!

    Cheers
    Dirk

    Hello Caleb
my name is Barry and first of all.....I am as well as many of your fellow model railroaders in awe of your modeling skills and ability's. If you haven't entered your work in any of the many model contests you should, you are blessed with a natural talent and it could take you far in life. It is not only your modeling but your writing and tutorial skills. I have been a lurker on the trainboard for a while now and your work has inspired me to place my first post thanks and keep doing what you do you are awesome at it.

Thanks all, sorry for not responding sooner again.

Soon, right now there's just this tunnel scene and the rest of the layout is mess and tools and scenery supply's. :D But I've resolved to complete the subroadbed all around the layout before I work on any more scenery.

Thanks Dirk, I'm glad you think so, that's always the risk with tearing out old scenes and sometimes I'm not quite sure if I've made the right choice.

Thanks Barry, and welcome to posting on Trainboard! I have thought of entering my photos in contests, but it seems they always fly by before I can get myself organized and send something in. Ah well, one of these days.

Here's a couple of recent shots.

    OH YEAH!!!

Love the night effect! Two box cars disappearing into a tunnel. Great work, both photography and layout detailing.

love the new shots. the 2nd with the box cars passing thru the scene can almost be mistaken for the real thing. Great scenery work.

Caleb, you GOTTA stop uploading these nice prototype shots, and calling it modeling.... :p:p
Astounding job! The details are very well done, all you need is some grungy tunnel motors in Aspen Gold and black to make it better.

Aye, Utah was nice, a week in the wilderness sure is refreshing.

Too many deciduous trees for that Hemi. ;) Though since exploring some former D&RGW lines in Colorado and Utah I've become more interested in the Rio Grande... maybe someday.

There's some river bottoms thatfeatured deciduous trees, but you are correct; by and large, the 'Grandes scenery was overwhelmingly conifer.

    Cookie cutter roadbed?

    Caleb,

Just spent a most pleasurable 3 hours going over this thread. Very nicely done indeed!

Question- yours is the first HCD layout I've seen that didn't have a 1" or 2" Styrofoam layer laminated to it- you elected to use a more traditional "cookie cutter" technique.

Any particular reason why you chose this method? Pros and cons vs the styrofoam as a base layer?

Also, what are you planning to use to throw the switches? Caboose Industries ground throws, a Tortoise Machine, or something else?

Thanks, and keep up the amazing work!

I really like the way the track curves through the short tunnel. Excellent work.
