Word had been that some initial work was to start this week. Can anyone confirm whether or not? Boxcab E50
I heard something about it on the radio. I had looked for something that had a link that I could post here, but didn't find anything in my initial search.
Coos Bay Line Repairs There was an article in the Medford Mailtribune 3-4 days ago stating they were beginning repairs on the tunnels. Also The World Link, Coos Bay's local paper reported it.
Coos Bay Line Repairs I found the article online in an archive in The World Link for Thrus. Sept. 10. It was written by a friend of mine, Alexander Rich. He has been covering the Coos Bay Line ever since the Port considered buying it. Apparently, they recieved a grant and plan to open the line in the Spring of 2010.
Sure a lot of difference between highways and railroads. If it was a highway that was washed out or had tunnels that needed repair the highway department would be right there with a fix at taxpayers expense. No waiting either the repairs would be started at once. The Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad has been washed out for almost three years and no repair has been started to my knowledge. Where's the ODOT? Why haven't they fixed the POTB? It is a sure bet that if Highway 6 was washed out for sixteen miles the road would have been repaired instantly.
Repairs I so agree with you, ODOT fixes a pothole in Rite-Aide's parking lot within 12 hours, but railroads are always put aside. The STB drags their decisions on for months, like on the Sisikyou Line. What's with that?
a little has started,I was under the rail road swivel bradge fishing the other day,It does not look like it has been touched tho, some of the tracks on the north spit look like they have had an little work on them. Jim (IN COOS BAY)
As yet another Oregonian, I agree with the priorities. It is assumed that highway projects are always worthwhile while rail transportation suffers.
Does that bridge ever need to be opened? Or are those days pretty much gone? It's been years since I was last there, as family moved away from the area. If they get this line rebuilt, it might be a good reason to get back out there some day. Boxcab E50
When ODOT was mentioned, I thought you were talking about Oklahoma's Dapartment of Paving-Every-Square-Mile-With-Concrete (oops, I meant Transportation). They're just as bad.
The railroad bridge is allways open, when it closes we will no they are working on it,from underneath it looks real bad, when you get close to it it is in bad shape,I live in coos bay now,so if i see something going on I'll let you guys. Bigpine
Siskiyou Line Well, so much for the STB making a decision for YWRR by "the middle of September"...don't understand what is going on!!!
Unfortunately, far too few of the bureaucrats you are waiting on have any business experience. They do not understand how the concept of time factors in... Thus, any speed is simply not used. :tb-sad: Boxcab E50
Which decision was this? We'll see. Sometimes a decision is impossible to reach because one or more parties involved don't turn over the requested information.
