What's off about the Stat Troopers shooting? THe number of them? I believe the Derailers were supposed to be of a concussive force kind. That truck pursuit reminded me of Conductor Fuller taking off after The General (from historical reports, I'v enot see the the movie)... On foot. Now if you REALLY wanted a movie with 80 mph runaways, real fireballs, a conspiracy theory, human tragedy, and dump the wreck on a FLAMMABLE HIGH PRESSSURE PIPELINE... review the 1996 Cajon Pass runaway where they lost their brakes. How that one didn't get selected and this one did is beyond me. The full NTSB report is out there, and they never did conclusively determine if there was human sabotage on the angle cock toward the front of the train, but that entire area is now security fenced today. [/quote] The sequal? ah, I don't think Hollywood's up to doing that. Besides,t hey;d still have to fast-worward the train.
hi im a newbie my hubby posts on here (seatedviper) Im mad about trains steam and diesel and i love american locos. Im the trainspotter in the family, i love going trainspotting and writing down the numbers. I live in the UK and im really happy if we go somewhere where there's a lot of freight action. I cant wait for the new movie unstoppable to come out on dvd, i think HMV said february. Ive watched runaway train, disaster on the coastliner and silver streak. I wont be looking for bloopers or any technical errors im just looking forward to an edge of the seat movie if its got trains in it im happy. Nutsabouttrains
OK...its out on DVD. I watched it just now...and Sorry all you "Proto" guys...like it or not...this movie was A W E S O M E !!!:thumbs_up: I dont give a flyin rats butt about how this couldnt be done...How that was so not feasible. Yadda...yadda...yadda. Blah...blah...blah. All your 'expertise' did NOT make this movie blase to me. Still had me on the edge of my seat for a good 3/4 + of the movie. If ya havent seen it and you like trains and action...get it now. If fantasy train movies makes you nauseous...move along...LOL :tb-rolleyes: .
I agree that the movie was very entertaining. But I gotta ask.. what were your thoughts on the curve scene?
Welll...ya see...there was this curve....no...this super elevated curve. Then there was this train...no this really fast train. This train..... Oh heck with it.... It was all entertaining no matter what :tb-tongue: .
Honestly Mark, I'd like to know what ijit city planner decided it was a good idea to put a chemical factory under a railroad bridge, for just such an emergeny. There really is a bridge there, and really is a ??? there, though I doubt it esplodes quite so easily.
I looked it up on Google.earth about a month ago. There really is a bridge there and there really is a curve there-- but there is a big open field at the outside of the curve. The chemical plant was apparently CGI...and in the movie, it didn't look like a 2010 chemical plant or a 1990 or 1970 or even 1950 chemical plant. It looked like something out of the Franklin and South Manchester. (Nothing wrong with the F&SM. It's great for a 1930s scene!)
I rented this one this weekend, and it kept me ont he edge of my seat. My wife couldn't watch some parts of it. No matter how unrealistic was was, it was still fun to watch,a nd will be added to my video library on BluRay.
Just after Xmas I took my eldest son to watch it with me - It was the first movie he'd seen on the big screen not made by Pixar eek: We both enjoyed it and yeah the edge of the seat got a good workout. In all honesty I overlooked any technical stuff that would have otherwise spoiled the movie as pure entertainment, cos that's why we were there The funniest thing to come out of it was a week or so later, when I was watching an old episode of "My Name is Earl" and Cooper said "hey dad I don't think Earl's gonna let Randy drive any more trains is he??" ..........kids
I got a copy on DVD this week. I actually got my g/f to watch it with me. Some things in the movie was totally hollywood. But it was still a good movie. We both liked it.
