SP F7A 6429. I have a build thread in the N scale diesel kitbashers and detailers group. Has gone from this... to this... to this... I should have it finished in a few days.
Great progress, as always! I've got more Computer Aided Scratch-building templates on my workbench. This time for experimentation on how to get the template fixed and cut out. The results are highly successful! I sprayed the back of the template, printed on plain paper, with super 77, then carefully laid the template onto the styrene sheet. The super 77 fixes the paper firmly while still allows the paper to peel off easily. To make it even easier to remove the template from the styrene after it is cut, wipe the top with a rag splashed with turpentine (or your favorite cleaner solvent) After the template is removed, clean the styrene pieces again to remove any remaining residue. This whole procedure lasted about 45 minutes, from attaching the template to fully cut out and cleaned pieces.
Let me bring down the curve! I have a bunch of Geeps on the table at the moment UP585-an SP GP38-2 snow fighter that's nearly complete; needs cut levers, new handrails, a few additional decals and weathering. WP3514-is gettinga few details like nose lights and the rear light is modified as proto using a single light replaced with dual beams and other details. CCT44-replaced the scratchbuilt Topeka cab with a custom one from Mark4Design and some addtional lights, this bloody thing CAN'T be missed; cab, nose, and ditch on the front and two sets of hood lights and ditch lights on the back. CFNR107-corrected long hood from Mark4Design and grabs/levers. UP?-a GP38-3 attempt to see what it would take, (GP40 shel with GP38 filter box and exhaust) may not finish that one but do have a new nose and a donor chassis if I do.
I'm just starting to do a pair of Guilford (PAN AM) GP35's #209 & 210.All from spare parts. So I don't know how extent I'm going to go with detail.
Two McGiffertt Loaders being scratchbuilt, six cabins, two Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0s being letterd for SP, several other locomotives being converted to DCC. Not to mention a model of the brig Niagra.
A project I have been working on for some time now. it went into the paint booth last night. Ho -vs- N. Kind of a "big brother, little brother" thing Dan Pikulski www.DansResinCasting.com
I have finally gotten back to trying to finish my 4 x Trainworx D&RGW cabooses. These are tricky little guys to build but having seen other modellers completed efforts, I think they'll be worth the effort I started on the part completed caboose you can seee with the etched brass sides / cupola / ends about 18 months ago!!! So I thought I'd try & get all 4 done at the same time > kind like an assembly line. For example - I do each step to each caboose before moving onto the next step. It saves time & I get a bit of practice by the time I get to the fourth car. You can also see the other 3 x Atlas "donor" cabooses I have chopped / sanded / modified ready to fit the etched brass laminates To build these kits you really need the article that Pat (TW) did in NSR http://www.nscalerailroadn.com/042/NSR042.html Anyway, I'm making some slow but steady progress on a project that's been on the shelf for over a year!! Although, they're not on my workbench anymore, the Kato F3A + 2xB's + LL PAB were in the process of getting masked and repainted last week into the D&RGW single stripe scheme The PAb unit is gonna be built as a steam generator :tb-biggrin:
Recently I was working on an old Bachmann Heavy Duty Faltcar. It is from my first adult layout around 86'. I replaced the wheels with Intermountain Horn Hook couplers with McHnery's Added a Balsa deck, and weathered the car
Ice House & Creamery The prototype for these two kits were built near Campbell Hall, New York on the New York, Ontario & Western Railway.
GHQ Grain Trailer GHQ grain trailer under construction. Very nice model and really a simple box construction. I hope to use some V-groove styrene to make some more, different versions.
Hello, I have begun after 18 jears again with the model railroad. Here sometimes a few projects of me. At first my Roundhouse from Alameda Conty. An Backgroundbuilding. projekt for the future. They all drwaing by my self.
Adding details to a group of truck tractors. It's better is I have an assembly line approach. Athearn trucks are really nice!
30 Minute Scrap Load Hello old thread, It's been a while. I've had a few projects on my workbench over the weekend. One in particular was a scratch-scrap-bulit scrap load. For starts, I like to save any extra bits of material from mostly any project I do. There's always a use for them scraps, like scrap loads! Here is the start. Scrap brass, wire, wood, and styrene were all CA glued together onto a brass strip cut to the size of a gondola bed. I was able to glue each piece within the bounds of the brass plate: I let that sit for a few minutes then sprayed it with Ruddy Brown Primer: I then let that sit for about 15 minutes then painted it only with gray enamel and then powdered on some varying colors of rusty brown pastel chalks and there it is, a finished scrap load: In Car:
I've also been weathering some rolling stock. Pastel chalk makes this unbelievably easy! Even the slightest touch of weathering adds tons of character to a piece: A dusty caboose: Check out my full Weathering album on RailImages. Happy Modeling!
