Recently I received some old structures from a friend. I don't know who made them or when but I suspect that they're from the late 60's to mid 70's. The general size and the narrow doors seem to bear this out. I took some quick photos of several with a 1/87 scale Porsche in front of them. Anyone who has any info on them I'd appreciate it if you could tell me about them.
I also got this Athearn 40' Bulkhead flat in the same package. Again, not sure when it was made. The load appears to be scratched from about 16 pieces of basswood that are roughly scribed to resemble stacks of plywood. The bundle straps are drawn on. I made the cables holding the load in place with black thread.
Spent a few hours this past week and today getting the terrain formed on the other end of my bridge. The structure perched on top of the cliff to the right of the bridge is Branchline's Rocky Point Lighthouse. Received it yesterday, including the "flasher" kit. The fascia will eventually be replaced with a new one that follows the rise and fall of the terrain, hiding all of the exposed foam.
Just and interesting unplanned shot, the camera was set on the tracks, without sighting and clicked. The article in this month RMC on the BC&G Railbus A got me fired up about doing one again. Theirs was in HO, mine will be in N.
H0 Scale Internet I purchased these from HOYardSale Yahoo group on the internet. Both engines are DCC; I haven't done a thing to them. I took the pictures yesterday on the SAMRA club layout before the club Christmas party. Atlas GP38 B23-7. Notice Texas Highway Department repair crew, courtesy of Paul Dawson who did pretty much all of this section of the layout.
Very nice ckape. I've never seen an engine like this. Was the prototype a modification for a special purpose?
Where have you been Flash? We have them all over the place over here in the Houston area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_GP20D
We don't have them in San Antonio. Looks like lease power on the UP. Good cab visibility. In fact, I am beginning to think that the Sunset route has been re-routed through New Braunfels. In fact, besides the few freights passing through, there is no switching at all around here.
Here's an engine house I've been scratch building in my spare time. It's in N and I added a few interior details. I still have to make the roof, it will be removeable so you can see into the engine house. While wainting at a crossing the other day I was surprised to find 2 UP SD70Ms on the Norfolk Southern Marion Branch in Goshen, IN.
Tracy, WOW! your bridge scene is looking outstanding! It's awesome that you took a suggestion and ran with it! Well Done! Mike
Thanks. The double-decker idea was a great one, and I love the way it's turning out. I just finished putting the first coat of gloss on the water, I'll take pictures in a couple days after it dries...
Lots of good stuff this weekend! I had an ATSF SD26 that I detailed a while back, and it's been waiting on a weathering job. Today, I ended up trying a new weathering medium - paint. I'm just a chalks guy when it comes to weathering, but since I decided to make this SD26 look really beat, I decided to try my hand with paints. Turned out ok, still room for improvement. I also gave it a dusting of chalks to help blend it all together. This guy'll be runnin' yard duty on the layout now.
