The pic is not that special, but since I took it while participating in one of my other hobbies, it is special to me.
Not sure of the location, but I see your either hitting the rapids, or dropping a lure before the rapids.
I was thinking a couple of bright orange salmon eggs just in the lee of those rocks... Beautiful shot. Reminds me of fishing with my uncle as a kid.
Since you took the pic, don't you know where you were? Or is this a contest? Looks like mid morning 10:30- 11:00A? Train going north? You in the stream?
my guess you're heading downstream on the new river in west vigirnia. it looks like where we went whitewater rafting last summer and the guide put me in the river for teasing her. ty hogue • holland, michigan
No, not the New, but I may have a pic of a train coming thru the New River Gorge from a kayak. Yes it's a contest. I figured my state would give enough hints to get someone close. I posted a Clinchfield Railroad pic under my signature, but did something to make it disappear. That was going to be the other hint. Sorry, I blew it on those hints. One more hint is that the river input was in one state and the output in another. The pic was taken before the river/I crossed the state line I believe.
This thing has not gathered interest. Oh well, I tried. I guess I'll give ya'll more time to post up which river it is beside.
Not Connemough. It is the Nolichucky River. I was kayaking the gorge and heard a train coming and got out the camara. I took it from my boat sitting in an eddy above a rapid. I believe the put in is in NC and the take-out is TN. I think I took the pic before crossing into TN. I would have figured out exactly where it was but since there was not too much interest ...
Still, it is a cool photo. I am not very familiar with the old Clinchfield route. I am kind of a western railroad guy with a little bit of interest in the N&W and Virginian. Oh, and I have a soft spot for the Boston & Maine too.
