After months of neglect while my mortgage was in limbo:

    I intend it to be:
    Cleaned up
    Wired
    Running
    By July 4th
    Some white scenery

    July 18th
    With tan scenery and trees
    by August 1st

I know there are a few here who love trucks and like to include models of them. Here is one I can get occasional pics of:

Here are some more pictures of Kim Saign's layout. There are many not-so-obvious detals here. You'll just have to look closely. The layout is really well done and a very good operations concept.

    More of Kim Saign layout.

In the last photo, notice how all the cows are grazing facing in the same direction. This, BTW, is prototypically correct.

Thanks for those photos Flash. Kim's layout has come a long way since the last time I saw it. I recognize a lot of the folks operating also. Looks like a fun time was had by all.

I personally hope that our contributors will ignore our whiners. There are members who contribute and others who criticize, and some who do both, and all in good faith.

Then there is a culture (of a few, these days) that does not contribute nor criticize but assumes a superior role to contributors and critics. These are the whiners.

That's all I have to say for tonight.

Gee, and I thought I was the only guy with a cluttered-up layout :D :D

Just jerking your chain..............at least you're making progress. While finished scenes are awesome, it's good to see some under-construction stuff now & then. Lets us know there is individual progress being made (saw your pics too, Wolfgang....looks like that's coming along nicely).

Again, thanks to all those who shared their work, as well as Flash and John Sing's pics of what's going on down Houston way.

    Thanks Bob,
My work will never fall into the world class category but you can be sure I'll always bring a my own meaning to individual. Stay tuned. I have done some sketches and I'm excited at the prospects of um, well, being me.

I'm always surprised at the whiners who can take a simple endeavor and make it a personal affront to their sense of what the epitome of modeling should be. What are they complaining about?

OK, that’s a loaded question from an admin, because I know what they are complaining about, because I see it every day. I’ve learned it’s really not about what, but why?

And the why is pretty simple: they haven’t made their mark with valid contributions, so they have to make them by whining. They are contrarians, and nothing will please them. They take the simplest of endeavors and contort it until they are the center of attention, no matter what harm it does to the simple endeavor.

When confronted, they hide behind simple facts or simple opinions. They are just stating facts. They are only stating their opinion.

I, like many others, wonder why they bother. Are they trying to improve the forum or just whining to draw attention to themselves. I see no evidence of an attempt at improvement; I see no alternative contributions meant to improve; I see no substantial contributions of any sort to the threads that are the lifeblood of our forums.

Instead they suck on us like parasites. They attack the weakest. They isolate the strongest as “elitists.” They portray themselves as the stout-hearted defenders of all that is right and good. Anyone familiar with the cults of the 1930s and 1940s recognizes them.

Our endeavor here started with a simple premise: show us what you've been working on. That it has evolved into a showcase for some of the best model railroading photography is simply phenomenal. That it has come so far from its modest roots bodes well for the model railroading hobby, as the best always inspires the rest of us. But it still has its roots in that simple premise.

Sometimes there is repeating content. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm always surprised when I repost an image of one of my bridges or ships, and get a number of responses that say, "Wow! Show me more!" That means there are new members all of the time who do not know of previous posts. Most of our members realize this; two or three members proclaim it as the biggest insult we at Trainboard could inflict on them.

That does not mean that some members will not post the same images too regularly. I'm a little tired myself about a related matter: posting the same images on many forums at the same time.

My personal position is that it is unfair to turn this simple endeavor into a whine fest, or some sort of superiority contest between contributors and whiners. I truly hope our contributors will ignore our whiners.

Um, thanks, but it was meant to show the worse so that when I post in a couple of weeks it will seem truly impressive. Er, well, will look betterer.
